There is much I must learn about this thing called "sacrifice" I will let AJ Strata explain it to me:
The Far Left insults America’s intelligence when they say they support troops by claiming a pretend-victory and forcing them to run from al-Qaeda in Iraq – even as our troops have al-Qaeda on the run. But real support for the troops – American style – is obviously something much different than forcing retreat and covering it up with BS and parades down main street. Real support is backing them 100% so they can keep their hard-fought and achieve success (not ‘declare’ it). And that is just the minimum.
One American couple is showing everyone what it means to support our troops to the maximum extent possible, and their efforts deserve to be captured in the fabric of our national identity forever:
"More than a year after infantryman Alejandro Albarran lost part of his right leg to a blast in Iraq, he still hasn’t decided whether he’ll stay in the Army. “Right now, I’m leaning against it,” Albarran said, looking ahead with distaste to a possible desk job.
So AJ has decided to give up the good life as a blogger and finish what Albarran started.
Eh, not quite.
But whatever he decides, Spc. Albarran, 20, won’t be leaving Army life behind now that his wife enlisted to take his place among the ranks.
“After everything he’s gone through — and he loves the Army — he kind of inspired me,” Janay Albarran said. “I made him a promise that I would finish what he started.”
So, while he underwent five-day-a-week rehab to recover his balance and strength on a prosthetic leg at an Army rehabilitation facility here, she learned to shoot a rifle and stand in formation in boot camp at Fort Jackson, S.C. Mrs. Albarran became Pvt. Albarran on Friday.
The couple’s 2-year-old daughter is staying with a grandmother in Arizona.
About which Strata writes:
Love of country, sacrifice, duty and honor. The Albarran’s have taken these concepts to a new level. I humbly salute this family who clearly represent the apex of what it means to be an American family. They did for themselves and for all of us – what an example.
Just not one that AJ himself is interested in following what with Christmas coming and there leaves that need raking and, you know, the playoffs are just around the corner…

I truly feel inspired to write a paragraph praising this family’s sacrifice as soon as mom gets back with the cheetos and coke.
Real support is backing them 100% so they can keep their hard-fought and achieve success (not ‘declare’ it). And that is just the minimum.
Apparently, for this dickweed the “minimum” is actually a whole lot less than what this soldier’s wife did. Or even the grandma who is watching the 2-year-old. The “minimum” is taking ten minutes to write a blog post and then going back to the Battlestar Galactica DVDs. Oh, wait. That’s actually the “maximum” he will do.
“so they can keep their hard-fought”
Their hard fought what? He never tells us what was so hard fought about everything. I mean, it’s obvious that this ass-candle is fighting a last-ditch struggle against reason, but hell, that’s a battle the nuttiest fight every day.
I also love the newest wingy talking point, “Al Qaeda in Iraq.” Nothing about imperialists in Iraq, just terrorists.
Good God. What about this doesn’t sound like the wife has some form of survivor’s guilt? Where are the informed consent laws and waiting periods and mandatory counseling for joining the military?
“Supporting the troops” requires a lot more effort than a blog post applauding the pointless destruction of a young family. Even “supporting the war” requires more effort than this. AJ supports the talking points. Do they make a bumper sticker for that?
Wouldn’t this be “sacrufice”, then?
I’m surprised AJ didn’t say he was hopping mad…
Yellow elephants one and all
Ah, priorities. Staying home to care for your 2 year old child and your permanently disabled husband, or going to Iraq for the lucious chance of making some brown moooslim terrist (civilian) a widow(er) or a bereaved parent. What Would Jesus Do?
C’mon, TBogg. Strata is clearly a warrior on the home front just as this couple are warriors over there.
Are Cheetos not the bullets of the yellow elephant blogger? Is the Mountain Dew he spills on his keyboard taking a “noser” after reading some outrageous moonbat claim not the same as the blood spilt on the battlefield?
If you prick the Fighting Keyboardist, does he not apply for a Purple Heart?
Gee I wish I could do the “all talk no action” thing just like him. He’s right, keeping the boys and girls in harms way is the patriotic thing. After all the defined victory is looming on the horizon. January 09- no defined loss is a victory for chimp in charge.
what with Christmas coming and there leaves that need raking
Damn Californian. Let me tell you about a little thing called snow….
Exactly what is the missus going to be finishing?
Poor kid. I wonder how old the grandma is. 36, 37?
Poor kid. I wonder how old the grandma is. 36, 37?
Naw. I think she is making a real sacrifice for the family. I don’t know their exact situation, but how much chance do they have of getting any kind of medical insurance or care? The repugs are trying their darnedist to dismantle the VA & limit the care given to patients. He has an existing medical condition, so there is no medical insurance company that will touch him. They have a 2yr old child. They always need medical care (unlike some adults that do without).
She probably enlisted to get the bennies: medical care. Enlist with us so your loved-one we fucked up will get medical attention! Woo woo!
Hell of an army, ain’t it?
C’mon now, people.
You can’t possibly expect to waste genius of AJ’s caliber by dressing him up as a grunt and throwing him into actual combat.
He’s fighting the War of Ideas!
Which, incidentally, is a civil war against progressive thought and common sense right here in America.
It’s a war on free speech, freedom of assembly and independent action by American citizens, rights guaranteed us by the Constitution.
In my opinion, that makes AJ a traitor.
Fixed it for you AJ.
“I made him a promise that I would finish what he started.”
What, losing the other leg?
Finally, a reason to get behind the whole TBogg move thing: According to this comment at Altercation, Blogspot was blocked from “a lot of Army networks”.
Snark for the troops! I can get behind that!
“After everything he’s gone through — and he loves the Army — he kind of inspired me,” Janay Albarran said. “I made him a promise that I would finish what he started.”
“….finish what he started.” Well, go ahead Janay. But let me clue you on something: They don’t know “what” it is that they started, and They have no idea what “finish” looks like. Vaya con dios.
“It’s a war on free speech, freedom of assembly and independent action by American citizens, rights guaranteed us by the Constitution.
In my opinion, that makes AJ a traitor”
Indeed. The genius of the evil fucking warmongers at the top is that they know they have a willing gang of idiots to do the water carrying duties for them. Spineless sea urchins such as this bag of toothpaste.
They have never read the Constitution, have no idea what it means, what it represents or how it protects all of us from the evils of power. The rights guaranteed to us in the finest document ever touched off by the hand of man are HUMAN rights, not American rights.
They ensure that even the least influential, the least powerful, have a voice in a society where kill or be killed is an operating statement, not hyperbole (I mean, what’s our annual murder rate, 20, 30, 40 thousand a year?)
These sorts of folks never think what happens after we get rid of Habeus Corpus, or allow huge corporations to freely spy on private citizens. No, they just think attacking severely injured 12 year old kids is fighting the war of ideas.
(In fact TBogg, Malkin’s piece late last week was truly a gem, as she defended herself while attacking the Boston Globe for staking out Romney’s mansion and taking photos of illegals hired by his gardener.
Lets see, gratuitous swipe at anyone not on his Christmas card list, that being any progressive,Democrat or anyone with a working hemisphere in their brainpan.
Check.
Strawman argument.
Check.
Right wing talking points.
Check.
Completely worthless boasting of imagined warrior skills.
Check.
All in all another successful argument in favor of retroactive abortion.
Check.
I said this in a thread below, but it’s worth mentioning in the current one…

Another American goes off to “defend” the country that won’t provide her w/ a better job, or adequate insurance to take care of her wounded husband & child. What’s wrong w/ this picture?
Oh, and Mr. Fighting Keyboard guys “is preparing his son for the military” so that’s his sacrifice right there.
What the fuck are they doing, combat crawls through the neighbors yard? Does he get him up at 4 am and scream at him, then make him run around the neighborhood?
In fact, he’s still not sacrificing a motherfucking thing, except more simple-minded drivel to fuel his own fantasies of the Great War (or as that woman in the Burns’ documentary so aptly put it … the Waaaahhhh).
Plus if his kid joins up and gets killed, we lose one more young American for President Thimbledick’s oil, he loses a son, but the only sacrifice will have been made by the dead man, not daddy the idiot fucking war cheerleader.
These fucking asshats piss me off.
Maybe AJ would like to join Jonah Goldberg at Amherst with the Young Republicans at his presentation of Give War a Chance. Glenzilla has the details at: http://www.salon.com/opinion/g…..index.html
Updates 2 and 3/Items 7 & 8. I guess some friendly types alerted the local recruiting offices for them. Ya know, just in case the cost-benefit ratio prompted some of those attending to enlist.

At the library the other day, picking up a book I’d had delivered to the branch, I noticed that there was a book waiting to be picked up by “Loren Piestewa”.
If we can’t stop this violence soon I think I’ll fall apart. The idea that little Lori Piestewa’s once tiny child is old enough to be ordering library books gives the scale of what’s been going on. It simply has to stop soon. It has to.
GWPDA–
You just don’t get it.
How freakin’ HARD this thing is. And LONG. And STRUGGLY.
Just because we once defeated Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan in less time than it’s taken us to set up a reasonably functioning state in a Middle East backwater is no reason to get your shorts all in a knot.
Hard. Long. Struggly.
Incompetent fuckuppery of this magnitude could take decades.
Get your head out of Happy Cloud Cuckoo Land and into whatever Land it is that your betters, like AJ, inhabit.
Live Muslims make baby Jesus cry.
Don’t you know that?
Um, REAd more!!!!~

MORE!
Given the tendency of reichwing warmongers to make up quotes and attribute them to the troops, this has to be the most unintentionally funny line in the entire post:
“More than a year after infantryman Alejandro Albarran lost part of his right leg to a blast in Iraq, he still hasn’t decided whether he’ll stay in the Army. “Right now, I’m leaning against it,
Way to go, AJ! By the way, how does it feel that this soldiers wife has to abandon their child to go do the job you’re too fucking chickenshit to do? Must make you feel like a real man, doesn’t it?
No, losing his life.
