Gun Counter Gomer, intrepid PJM Cub Reporter and Mall of America Survivalist is on the Jamie Leigh Jones case:
Bob Owens takes a close look at the allegations of a gang rape in Iraq’s Green Zone in 2005 by employees of KBR, and finds some omissions and inconsistencies in the ABC News scoop.
As always, CY Bob isn’t really interested in the facts of the matter, he’s looking to kick some MSM butt for not crossing their i’s and dotting their t’s. And he’ll do it all without leaving the comfort of his Super Sekret He-Man MSM Hating Clubhouse & Gunroom.
Here he nibbles on an interesting tidbit:
A third claim made in The Blotter is that in the wake of the alleged rape, Jones was, “…held in the shipping container for at least 24 hours without food or water by KBR…”
Shipping containers typically found in Iraq (and elsewhere) are either 20’ or 40’ steel and aluminum boxes with little to no ventilation. On the days Jones was confined by KBR (July 29-30, 2005), the mean average temperature was 100-degrees, with air temperatures over 110 degrees for 6 hours straight both afternoons. It seems implausible that a person would survive such conditions without adequate food and water.
In the very near future there will be an "incredible simulation" involving Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader Barbie and a Weber grill.
In the process a little girls heart will be broken, a trip to Toys-R-Us will be made, and a lecture on the sacrifices Americans must make in the War on Islamobarbequism will be met with an icy glare from Mrs. Gomer.
War is hell.

It’s true. The yellow stripe wingtard, as a species, cannot survive a whole day in the heat.
Anyone in the service could handle it, of course.
I guess it isn’t even remotely possible that the shipping container, which was reported to contain a bed, wasn’t ventilated or otherwise made habitable, since shipping containers in Iraq are often used as places where people work or rest.
Or where prisoners are kept apparently, though in this case her apparent crime was being female and having the temerity to live through a gang rape and then want some justice over it all.
Keep pounding on this story Gomer, I would love to see this story get more press.
So, Mr. Gomer tosses the first rock thrown as wingtards invite each other to yet another stoning.
Oh, wait.
They’re dispatching some young republicans as we speak to check the kerning on the “Freshly Raped Female — Stay Away!” sign outside the container to see if it might match Dan Rather’s handwriting…
The US has routinely detained people in shipping containers in both Iraq and Afghanistan. In fact, during those heady days early on in the War on Islamobarbequism videos of the practice were fairly common on MSM TV news. I’ve also spent many a summer hour myself loading and unloading such containers as a freight handler back in the day. The rape victim’s confinement most certainly was unpleasant (especially considering that she had just been brutally attacked) but it was survivable.
It is nice, however, that this Confederate-flag-waving goober is rattling the cages of all the ight-wing howler monkeys in an effort to blame the victim. When I think these assholes can’t disgust me more they always outdo themselves in their hideousness.
I thought TIDOS Yankee’s Weber was destroyed in a tragic tornado-related accident.
It seems implausible…
Meaning: I have no actual evidence to prove my point, but I have to say something or the terrorists win!
I’ve been watching this story grow among the wingers. Without fail, every one of those who write about the supposed holes in the victim’s story say something like “It’s just the sort of thing The Left will use to attack the war effort.”
It’s like they’re shooting themselves in the foot to keep us from doing it.
The BBQ-less Sleuth disappoints me. I expected a crueler blow to the jiggling underbelly of the MSM, something like,
‘I emailed with the company medic and I’ve discovered a crucial fact mainstream reporting missed: a rape could not have occurred, because these men have no penises.’
Of course several of the gang rapists used condoms… thats a mitigating circumstance. And at least one used a ribbed condom, thats a mitigating circumstance. And the fact that she’s attractive and still went to a war zone, thats a mitigating circumstance..
The State Department is moving too slowly. They are so fervent on their Mission, that they are ignoring their job functions and only aiming for ‘Good News’ stories.
A rape by KBR employees? That can’t be good. I think we are very lucky that the sympathetic guard gave her the cellphone to use. We would have never heard of it – Swept under the rug, like all the other crimes.
It seems implausible that a person would survive such conditions without adequate food and water.
Well maybe that’s why that guard (who apparently had a shred of humanity left) lent her his cellphone to call her father, asshole.
Rape! Well, as we all know, that is nothing more than he said/she said. Right! Hopefully, by this young woman going public, others who were raped in a similar circumstance will come forward. It is very unlikely she is the only one. Where are the doctors? Are they taking the high road and speaking out? Did she speak to another woman about what happened to her? There are probably many who know.
It takes courage to step forward in a rape case especially when a high profile company is involved.
Well, looky what I found from March of this year:
Now, what was that again about shipping containers being unsurvivable? (Of course, undocumented workers seeking to enter the US from Mexico have known this for years now.)
Why don’t we throw Ol’ Gun Counter into one of them containers and leave him in Death Valley for 24 hours and see what happens?
As a scientist, I am always skeptical of claims of implausibility without empirical evidence to back them up.
It sounds to me like this young lady is lucky to be alive. Does anyone actually believe that after locking her up in a shipping container, their ultimate intention was to let her go? She was most likely getting ready to be “suicided”. What happened to the guy that gave her the cell phone?
His argument is actually that “Since they didn’t manage to kill her despite apparently trying hard, clearly nothing at all bad happened to her”? WTF?
I agree that GCG should test this boxcar thing himself. But I think we need more than one test subject, and maybe a control group who will be given some water. I’m sure the ranks of those who are fighting the war of ideas here could supply sufficient volunteers.
You know, I’ve always questioned the folks who ask for spit-take warnings, but I actually had a little bit of Captain and Coke spray through my nose on my keyboard after that one, for reals.
Phoenix Woman beat me to it. I just read about this being common place in Mexico a couple of weeks ago, but I’m too lazy to Google where I saw it.
This incident is directly related to the lack of control by State. If Rice was really a woman, or human she’d be on this like.. well white on rice. The crime is an outrage, the fact that the employer was allowed to take the rape kit, that no one is in custody, that anyone accused is not arrested is an outrage. The fact the Secretary Rice is silent is the greatest outrage.
Its DUKE all over again… Dont you understand !!????
Women are never raped. It doesnt happen.
Women’s naughty bits are always conspiring to destroy our glorious victory!!!
“Its DUKE all over again… Dont you understand !!????”
Actually, the three accused Duke Lacrosse players didn’t rape anyone, so no, it’s no Duke all over again. But give it another shot, maybe this time you can drum up some other demonstrably innocent men to slander.
“The fact the Secretary Rice is silent is the greatest outrage.”
As for Secretary Rice, considering her incompetence I’m not surprised, but I also don’t expect the Sec. of State to take an active role in every sexual assault that occurs overseas. It was a call from the Rep. that got the State Department involved, and their the ones who got her out of country.
Good luck finding a female recruit who’d be willing to butt-fuck him with a strap-on before tossing him inside. Even vendettas and wishful thinking have limits….
State is responsible for that contractor. Period. It shouldn’t take a call from congress for Rice to do her job. As far as I can tell she seems to be doing more damage control than protecting the woman. I DO expect the Sec of State to take an active role after the multiple disasters shes had under her watch. All it takes is a phone call saying this is important, I want this fixed and the culprits in jail.
Agreed on all points and well stated.
But we still expect competence for the gang that can’t even lie straight.
umm, that was snark.
Well.. I think gang rape is so hideous, I guess my danders’ up because I do expect her (Rice) to respond as a person, horrified by this. However, as you imply, that would be an act that flies in the face of an administration that does nothing without a political angle.
IIRC weren’t they going to house Rush and his “mistress” Daryn in one of those containers on a trip to the war zone? In light of this, shouldn’t his argument be how deluxe the accomidations were?
Gotcha
shipping containers go up to53′. the dude is a douche.
They’ve attacked her story. Next up: her reputation. I heard Jamie Leigh Jones is an army wife but I can’t validate it.
Support the troops!!
moondancer, go check the ongoing law suit against Chevron for crimes committed by private armies in Nigeria hired by Chevron while Condi was a board member (important enough to have a Chevron oil tanker named after her).

I heard the same thing from Olbermann last night. Given the way contractors in Iraq talk about the real troops, it’s not a surprise the way they’d treat the troops’ spouses.
I remember Cheney being hidden in one when there was some kind of violence around one of his trips. It’s not unusual, but it is horrifying.
