pretty damned good, again! FDL Top Ten Lists have been berry berry berry berry berry good to me (Chico Escuela on steroids!)
Saw Prine last summer (’06) here in San Antonio. It’s a damn shame he’s had to restore songs like Your Flag Decal Won’t Get You Into Heaven Anymore and Sam Stone to his playlist. But he still puts on a damn fine show.
I love The War on Christmas by Grumpydick O’Falafelface! In fact, that entire CD (A Fox Family Christmas, of course) is a favorite this time of year — who can forget LC Spud’s version of “I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus?”

Barefoot Jerry? That’s incredible!
Yeah, he did both those when he played The Ryman on his Fair and Squared tour, and they were very timely still, unfortunately. This time he has sold out the new symphony hall, playing w/ Mac Wiseman some Standard Songs for Average People. The joys of living in Nashville hit home last Christmas. I was shopping at Target on Dec. 23 and picked up a copy of Sweet Revenge for my nephew. About five minutes later, in the electronics section, I ran into Prine. I just smiled and nodded, as did he. Almost as awesome as sitting next to Lucinda Williams at the bar at 12th & Porter for a show…she was drinking red wine…
Yikes, only one from this decade! Sad…
This decade is vastly overrated. I would be far more ashamed of having only songs from this decade.

Tom, for what it’s worth, “Slave to Love” is solo Bryan Ferry and not a Roxy Music cut, even when it comes off that very good comp that melds them together.

Christmas time is here, by golly,
Disapproval would be folly,
Deck the halls with hunks of holly,
Fill the cup and don’t say “when.”
Kill the turkeys, ducks and chickens,
Mix the punch, drag out the Dickens,
Even though the prospect sickens,
Brother, here we go again.
On Christmas Day you can’t get sore,
Your fellow man you must adore,
There’s time to rob him all the more
The other three hundred and sixty-four.
