Poor dumb stupid moronic Jonah Goldberg:
Either way, what is really remarkable — and a large source of liberal rage — is that for all the leftwing talk about the discrediting of "neoconservatism" and the hawks of The Weekly Standard stripe, they’re still so influential that when the Times looks for a second conservative columnist it looks to the editor of The Weekly Standard and Brooks’ old boss and colleague. This no doubt says a lot about the narrow prism through which The New York Times views conservatism. But it also says a lot for the enduring success of Kristol and his magazine and the inability of liberals to pelt conservatives from the public stage the way they used to — and the way they desperately still want to.
Aside from Fox, Murdoch’s News Corp owns TV Guide, HarperCollins, 20th Century Fox, the London Times, and the New York Post. Murdoch also bankrolls William Kristol’s neocon mouthpiece the Weekly Standard, which has been losing money ever since it started up in the mid-1990s.
It must be interesting to go through life knowing that the Wingnut Fairy will put money under your pillow every night no matter how many times the invisible hand of the free market gives you the finger. If it weren’t for wingnut welfare Lucianne, Irving, Gertrude, Norman, and Midge would have left their idiot children on a hill somewhere for the wolves to eat.

damn, did those wolves ever miss out on some well-marbled butt roast — jonah, j-pod. they could have feasted for seasons…
When do we get to vote these idiots off the island?
Anyone keeping up with the Scaife divorce case? Perhaps that will slow the flow of charity for chumps.
In Wingerland, Jonah Goldberg is a fucking historian, fer chrissake. So his calling years of abject money-losing failure supported only by feeding tubes attached to right-wing moneytit nipples enduring success is a natural, especially regarding a fellow legacy hump like Kristol. Perhaps one day the plug will be pulled on the Shiavo-ing of the neocons, but I’m not optimistic.
The problem with the (othewise entirely justified) reaction to the NYT’s hiring of Kristol is that the schmuck thrives on it. I’m sure he spent the morning jerking off to the idea that he can, after years of making stopped clocks everywhere look good, still provoke the amount of vitriol generated by the announcement.
Upon reflection, I have decided that the proper reaction is to simply acknowledge the continuing and escalating irrelevance of the New York Times, Krugman and Dick Cavett’s efforts to the contrary notwithstanding.
(Snicker) N-pod became a flaming conservative because Jackie-O flat rejected his advances (while he was married to the Midget, go figure).
Henceforth, I respectfully request that all references to Goldberg’s book refer to it as the “Pantload Opus.”
Thank you for your cooperation.
“This no doubt says a lot about the narrow prism through which The New York Times views conservatism […]” — no, Jonah. But it speaks volumes about the narrow prism through which The New York Times views reality.
Oh, and wolves have better taste than that.
Perhaps these idiot children were left to the wolves, who promptly rejected them as befouled and diseased meat.
Sounds to me like the Doughy One wishes the NYT had looked farther afield than its prism reached — to the LAT. A little inter-conservative jealousy, perhaps? Maybe it’ll get all Coastal, like rap.
Maybe it’ll get all Coastal, like rap.
Or ventriloquism. That, too.
Don’t be naive. They would have eaten them themselves, if not for 7-11 and Cheetos.
Steve,
Isn’t 7-11 the culinary equivalent of 9-11? Does Rudy consider 7-11 the cause of anything significant in his campaign?
And of course Murdoch’s NY Post, like his Weekly Standard, also loses a shitload of money every single year in that free market the right-wingers claim to love so much. But when you are Jonah Goldberg, who crawled out of the lice-infected vagina of Lucianne (ol’ turkey neck) Goldberg, perhaps THE most unattractive woman in modern history – seriously, she is a major oinker – then consistency and logic is not your strong point as your brain was no doubt infected with various STDs in your valiant escape from her putrid birth canal.
I sort of resent the way these folks have made me believe that I’m naive and stupid for thinking that sensible business practices lead to people getting their jobs because they knew how to do them.
I’m sure it’s a class issue.
Ole 60 Grit. Kate O’Beirne?
I think it was ol’ TRex who figured that the NYT offer to Kristol must have been prompted by documentation of Sultzberger performing unnatural acts on poultry. It certainly could not have been Kristol’s track record as a predictor of policy outcomes.
Jonah Goldberg is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
Tom, you’re assuming the wolves would have eaten spoiled meat.
Happy New Year to you and the family! – Jo
I’m not so sure. I find the Pantload a little doughy.
Wingnut welfare got a huge boost from StRonnie. He said the Washington Times (aka Moonie Times)was his favorite newspaper. The WT looses money every year.

“By 2002, the Unification Church had spent about $1.7 billion in subsidies for the Times. The paper has lost money every year that it has been in business”
