Fred Thomspon ran because the GOP was desperately looking for -anyone- who would excite the conservatives.

The GOP pulled out, what, 10 possible candidates? Well if you fire enough bullets, eventually one is gonna hit.

Fred Thompson was one of the bullets that missed. Big deal. It was GOP money that was flushed down the toilet anyway.

Absolutely. This format sucks the soul out of these blogs. I even have to click a link to see what the bassets are up to.

I can see the argument that the FDL front page needs this format due to the frequency of posts. I’d still disagree with that position. But I see no reason to use this format for the individual bloggers. Why make them all look alike?

Aside from the inconvenience of having to click to find out if the post continues for 2 lines or 2 screens, the biggest problem with the format is this:

The ads are the only images of any size once you drop below the header.

This new format is like reading a newspaper page where the only graphics and photos are the ones placed by advertisers.

It is depressing.
