Kristol must think St. John of Arizona hasn’t a chance to get the nod. That “100 years” comment of McCain’s probably had Billy all moist and tingly. It would take a lot to overcome that.
Tbogg,
I was with you almost from the beginning, bud.
I watched the L&T Casey grow into a fine young woman.
I’ve gamboled through the San Diego streets with you and the Bassets.
I’ve taken sly and admiring glances at the infrequent pics of Mrs Tbogg.
Hell, I was even there the night of the “Great Crescent Debate” (I also saw Wilt knock down the 100, but that’s another story)and fought like a gladiator right beside you. Ok, it was only 3 comments that night, but they were STINGING comments and I gave as good as I got.
WTF has happened to all of our brilliant Tboggians?
Did the rest of the guys stay with the mother ship?
We’re lucky if we get 20 comments a post over here, and YOU KNOW the level of discourse is approaching rock bottom when my sophomorically scatological comments are considered funny by the other readers.
I miss the other kids Tbogg, can’t we send out an SOS or something?
One thing we can be sure of: If Kristol thinks Huckabee will get the nomination, it will surely be somebody else. Of course, maybe he’s only always wrong about the Middle East.
In his very first column, he quotes Michelle Malkin.
I had been thinking the same thoughts, b’rer bear. It’s hard to believe that all the regulars aren’t coming here just because they have to click on a “read more” button. Oh, and you have to register! WTF?
He needs to put up a football thread — that’ll bring ‘em. (Just kidding!)
This is posted exclusively to be mean. I have another email from RedState asking for money to build an in-house platform to replace Drupal. Perhaps the natural RedState users are too disaffected to visit it.
Some of the regulars are here. But yeah, I do miss some of the MIAs.
Hey, I’ll comment!! Be advised though, I am all kinds of dishevelled. I think I make good points sometimes though, like the occasional pearl in an oyster.
I rode my Tboggian just last night. Fun.
I’m with you in that regard. I like to think that I lower the bar for everyone else.
cbear: there was a comment on the last thread complaining about the horrors of registering, and about the grievous burden of that extra mouse click. I just don’t get it. I think tbogg has written some of his best stuff since he came over here.
Errr……….. as to Bill Kristol: Tom Tomorrow nails it. Warning: you have to click through Salon’s ad to see This Modern World. Oh noes!@!
What kind of message does it send to the kids for Bill Kristol to be so fucking wrong all the fucking time and still land a cozy spot next to real talents like Paul Krugman?
As an old regular who is still coming and commenting (though much less regularly) I do think that the new–and, let’s face it, less attractive and convenient–site makes a difference.
Why? I’d speculate and say that we’re all creatures of habit. And, in moving, Tbogg upset the routine while making things measurably (if only slightly) worse. But that’s just speculation.
However, like it or not, the move has made a difference. And the comment threads are less active and less good over here than they were at the old place. As has already been said, the quality of Tbogg’s posts is as high as ever.
I guess the moral is: don’t mess with a good thing.
With any luck, folks will start coming here, Tbogg and the FDL folks will improve their interface, or both.
No, it’s worse than that. The quote he attributes to Michelle Malkin was made by Michael Medved.
I couldn’t manage to register. It isn’t like our old bar. I miss the old cheers–even if it was fictional to start with.

hey, that worked. I guess I’m back.

OK, I think I comment less here because sometime it seems like navigating through electronic molasses. I can live with the log in requirement, but also miss seeing the pictures on the front page. Oh, and more purple!
I eagerly await the changes that TBogg promised in some other thread.
Geddy, Alex and I, like many commenters from the old address, have a difficult time with change but we’ve managed. It’s weird how the “community” changed merely because the address and appearance changed.
And, please get rid of the read more feature. It’s a bug.
Comments will return to normal volume in a few months. Tbogg humor brings in the good/smart ones. They were 1/3 of the fun of the show. I don’t comment very often, because someone else usually said it better, earlier.
Thanks!
