James Kirchick, last seen begging for a date, digs up some racist writings under Ron Paul's name and the pitchforks and torches come out for the Grand Kleagle of Paultardom, including someone who just adorable in that total lack-of-self-awareness way that makes teh internets cuter than a Prussian Blue Afterschool Special.
Matthew 7:5 ..."first cast out the burning cross out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."

Wait, is that an endorsement?
From Wal-Mart’s David Duke collection?
I have been watching MSNBC’s coverage of the primaries.
Why, after they have repeatedly expressed their shock at how wrong their prognostications were, is Olbermann declaring Clinton’s win as a huge upset?
That’s like saying “I can’t understand how the Buckeyes got their collective asses handed to them, we all thought they were going to win, this is a huge upset for LSU.”
And what was with the sage Tom Brokaw lecturing Matthews like is was post-Sunday dinner, you know, after Maw-Maw is carted upstairs following the meal because too many little glasses of sherry had her singing bawdy tunes from the 30’s.
Brokaw went immediately from the “learned scholar lecturing the frisky freshmen,” to a complete change of voice, tone and timbre when Clinton approached the stage.
He sounded like … “ok, here she is (sigh), Senator Clinton, ready to give (double-whammy-sigh) her victory speech.”
These people amaze me.
Oh, and umm, you guys may not have heard, but uhh, the Klan is actually a collection of Liberal fascists … really.
That confederate dude will prolly be insulted and stuff, ’cause I think he’s really a vegan.
You know, that looks like nothing more than a Muslim prayer-rug.
But what we all want to know, does the rug match the curtains?
Here in Kentucky, I see people with Confederate flag t-shirts that say ‘Heritage, not Hate’ and ‘If you think the Confederate flag symbolizes hate, then you don’t know your history’. Phhttpppp. I say ‘Heritage OF Hate’. And, ‘People who DON’T see the Confederate flag as a symbol of hate don’t know their history’. Nowdays, the ONLY reason a person would have Confederate flag drapes is to proudly display their racism. Is it true that *EVERYONE* who displays a Confederate flag a racist? Nope, I’m not saying that. (They would, of course, be at least guilty of ignorance of what the flag has come to represent.) But, geez, CURTAINS. Yup.
Do confederate flag curtains signify hate? No. But very, very, very, bad taste. And its the “Dukes of Hazard” collection, guys.
aimai
Confederate flags don’t necessarily signify a racist intent, but they do indicate that that person pushing them forward is an asshole.
Sure, some are racist (okay, quite a few), but to many it’s like the punk rockers back in the day who would get “FUCK YOU” tattooed on their foreheads. Heritage not hate? Sure - a heritage of assholery.
Is that like matching the collars and cuffs?
Damn, I’m related to someone exactly like that. I also suspect that all the “new” evidence of RP’s prior bigotry, asshattery, etc. is a selling point, not a turn-off.
By displaying that flag, it is a statement that they still cling to their heritage of hate. Unites States of America hate. That flag represented people that wanted to secede from the US. Confederates hate America.
Now, for the dead horse:
“confederate yankee” - Isn’t that an oxymoron of epic proportions? No, wait. I get it now. A “confederate yankee” is a person living in the northern states that hates America!
Got it.

The way those curtains are gathered, the white ones behind them form a nice white pointy hood.
Funny thing is, Kentucky went for the Union in the Civil War. The Confederates tried to take the state a couple of times by force of arms, but failed, due largely to the fact that the Kentuckians wouldn’t turn out to support them. So it can’t be a matter of heritage . . .
And (beating head on keyboard in frutration)I’ve got to say that this is the most difficult site on which to post comments I’ve seen–7 attempts to register–3 attempts to log in–and it still will only allow me to comment on this thread, and no other. Not to mention, I’ve been commenting as “rea” since ‘02, but this site insists I need at least 4 characters. Aren’t I enough of a character as it is?
Actually, the Pantload’s argument about the KKK is that they aren’t fascists at all because, during the 1920s, they hated the Italians.
