I see. So it’s not dumb when men back men because they don’t like girly cooties, nor when white men back white men because they’re scared of the immigrants and the uppity blacks. It’s apparently not even dumb when voters select a man who they’d like to have a beer with, nor is it dumb when voters select a candidate whose positions they would be opposed to if they had bothered to find out what they were. It’s not dumb that in most local races the vote swings almost entirely on name recognition. It’s not dumb when people vote based on whether a city councilman or president believe in evolution. It’s not dumb when people vote based on what their prospective mayor’s view of abortion is. It’s not dumb when people vote based on tabloid style stories about a man’s haircuts, or a constant drum of bullshit that says the man claimed to invent the internet.

Considering Michelle is very definitely part of the problem, I’m pretty sure I won’t be turning to her for piercing insights into what’s making politics dumb.

Of course, if the events described were exactly the same, except the candidate involved was Condi Rice instead of Hillary, Michelle’s attitude would be completely different.
