Anyone else remember Harold Stassen? He made a credible bid for the Republican nomination in 1948, losing to Thomas Dewey of the famous “Dewey Defeats Truman” Chicago Tribune headline. He then became the political equivalent of the gambling addict who’s convinced he’s just gotta win big if he keeps on playing, running for president in 1952, 1964, 1968, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992 …. oh, and then he died, or he’d still be running.

Have we found his successor?

Nader was never cool.

Well, okay, I said it was when I started high school. As I recall, when I was fourteen I thought blue nail polish was cool, so maybe my judgment wasn’t top notch.

Definitely it wasn’t. But that doesn’t alter the fact that Nader is a creep today.

What’s far worse than Nader running is that there are still idiots who will vote for him.

This is reminiscent of Homer Simpson’s run against Ray Patterson for Springfield Sanitation Commissioner.

“If you want to believe a bunch of wild promises, then by all means vote for this sleazy lunatic.”

The doormats pictured pretty much sum it up.

Agreeing with capthealy about Nader’s stated reasons for running… and of course if Nader (or anyone else) attempts to point out the major parties’ ignoring of issues, they are in turn, ignored by big media. The only reason they put Nader on now is because they see it as part of the horse race coverage (how will it affect the Democrats?)
