Unfortunately For Obama, He "Triked" Out
Yes, Jeremiah Wright probably does present a path to victory over Obama in the Fall. But maybe not why some think. I'd suggest it isn't because Obama is black. It's because, by half, he isn't and never has been black enough.
It's worth noting some pertinent background and history in the wake of Obama's recent speech on race. For example, that image of Obama on a tricycle at right: not quite the stuff of a disadvantaged black youth, now is it?
There are probably millions of white individuals Obama's age who can't claim to have had as refined a look, or as nice a "trike" as Obama when young. So, what exactly is this "authenticity" we here so much about?
It's suggested he tossed his Grandmother under the bus, citing her previous racial remarks. Has anyone stopped to think that she was mostly catching buses in Kansas, and then Hawaii in her time with Obama? She may, or may not have made some racial comments that had nothing to do with what we would consider black men at all.
Point being, when Obama joined Jeremiah Wright's church, he wasn't even close to being entitled to the angry young black man mantra Wright has professed for the last twenty or so years.
Try as I might, I'm not sure I get what Dan's point is (possibly because it is in some sort of whitebonics with all the slang and words spelled funny) but I think that he is saying that Obama can only be black if he looked like this in his childhood.

Even then Dan would probably point out that he's never been on a cruise and that the Obama family probably got to go on it for free because they're black.

Oh boy, not only is he a secret-Muslim-America-Hating-Black-separtist-Christian-in-name-only, he also got new toys when he was a kid.
We all know that black folks were not allowed to purchase new toys for their children until the epic “Toy Purchasing Civil Rights Act” of 1972.

Honest to fuck, my childhood was call-the-damned-cops-again unpleasant, and I still had a new trike once.
What I want to know is, how does Dan know this is Obama’s trike? Maybe it’s the neighbor’s. Maybe it was secondhand and repainted. Maybe this is Obama test-driving a new trike he then couldn’t afford to take home. Maybe the week after this pic was taken, the trike was repossessed and the family had to sell their home and move into the car in the background. Maybe this was the only new toy Obama ever got. Maybe this is a picture of some other kid. Maybe the photo is staged as part of some nefarious commie disinformation plot. Maybe it’s sun spots. Maybe it was created with superior alien photoshopping technology.
Sure, the photo probably isn’t any of these things, but if Dan’s abandoned logic and rationality in his arguments, I don’t see why I should have to stick to them.
All I know is, I’m gonna need a thorough, notarized report on the Obama family countertops before I believe that Obama is less a man of the people than John McCain based on Dan’s say-so.
