(I can find no biographical data on DD which would tell me his actual age or other qualifications. The LBCC does not list their faculty’s CVs, and the link to the Political Science department is dead. But does anyone over the age of say, 25, still take Ayn Rand seriously?)

Notice the capital “S” – it seems someone is either unfamiliar with the fact that “Southern California” is not actually a proper noun. I suspect the wording is an attempt to imply that he’s teaching at USC. That, or he’s just illiterate.

The web page for the Long Beach City College Political Science Department lists Donald Douglas as an Instructor, not an Associate Professor. The link to his personal web page there appears to be broken.

Anyone over the age of twenty-two who lists the works of Ayn Rand among their favorites is a sad, stunted individual.

Centuries ago, I was a student of the ur-Kagan, Donald, then chair of the classics department at Yale. He taught a terrific course in comparative studies in the origins of war, looking at WWI and II, as well as ancient conflicts. Also other good courses on Greek history. Maybe this family ought to avoid pontificating on any conflict since Scipio Africanus whipped the Carthaginians.
