It was only last year that Glass started spending any of the welfare money (luxury tax) from the Yankees/Red Sox etc. to improve the team. And this was only after the other owners started complaining.

Under Kaufmann they had one of the best minor league systems. Of late, besides letting some of their better players leave or trading them, they’ve been content to offer up a declining Sweeney…and that was about it.

Very few things in professional sports compares to dusk at Kauffman Stadium, with the sky lit in soft hues behind the waterfalls and that massive scoreboard (which now has the world’s largest [IIRC] Hi-Def screen).

Picture “>Picture here(though not great).

Once all the $250 million of upgrades are done, it’ll easily remain one of the top stadiums for another 30 years.

The team, on the other hand, still has some work to do. They seem to be getting better and making smart decisions (i.e. spending some money without going nuts), so there is some hope.

I’m a southpaw too, except for ping-pong. Very weird. And I love Petco Park, although I’ll always have fond memories of sitting upper deck at the Murph, behind home plate. Tickets probably cost $5 and the view was perfect.

I love San Fran. And yes, i play every sport left handed/footed except tennis. Somehow I can only hit a tennis ball with my right hand. It’s kind of strange.

Next time ya’all in town try the upper deck first base side for a few innings. There will be plenty of poachable seats everywhere in the ball park, I’d predict.

I’m going to opening day on a sail boat. McCovey Cove will be empty of Bonds ball chasers. As I usually do when management goes bad, I stopped getting season tix. On week-night games I’ll end up poaching for a ten-spot the very same seats I used to pay $26 a pop. The advantage of following a bad team is…You can sit anywhere!

Actually I love watching soccer

What about cricket? Now there’s a cracking game! Where else do they say stuff like, “He stroked a wicked googly over deep square leg for six!”
