Yes, Bill, that does sound better. Die, religion, die.

…And the horses turn for home in the Lucky Sperm Jackass Derby, J-Pod’s Pud by two lengths, but here comes Bloody Bill closing fast! Yes, he has him at the wire, by the length of a silver spoon!
Other shorter Bill Kristol: “Obama is a dirty Commie Red.”
We’ll be hearing a lot more of that line.
I’ve been hearing more and more “Commie” stuff thrown around lately. Weird. I’m an old guy who grew up during the duck-and-cover Red Scare years so this is all very strange. These people are like a dog licking up its own vomit.
Hopefully this will be one of the last cycles with the “commie scare”. Those old bastards using that scare will be dying off soon. They’re living in the past. If their brains weren’t already addled, they would be on the current page of the “islamofascism scare”.
Was it not only a couple of weeks ago that Kristol quoted for us “toujour l’audace“? Thank God he’s a regular, salt-of-the-earth, blue-collar guy, not like that snotty elitist Obama.
As to Obama’s alleged “supercilious disdain” and “hauteur,” Kristol is the one offering snotty commentary from on high, and in foreign languages, yet. Well, as they say, “The moralist forgives the crows, but harasses the doves.” Or, more succinctly, in the original Latin in which Juvenal somehow always sounds better: “Dat veniam corvis, vexat censura columbas.”
Whoa–just noticed the expanded blogroll! Thanks for the link, Tbogg.
And, um, apologies for the off-topic comment.
Just curious, but how is “Die Religion ist das Opium des Volkes” more succinct than “Religion is the opiate of the masses”? Aren’t both seven words? Heck, they’re even both twelve syllables. Does he know the meaning of the word “succinct”?
I just look at my poster sized “Kristol takes the Stooge salute” and chant until my blood pressure goes down.
That and the knowledge that my pet amoeba is smarter than that asshole.
We’re moving from Commies to Islamofascists, so there will be no gap. Haven’t you noticed?
And Charles Pierce noticed that Bill’s column has a bit of what Daffy Duck inimitably referred to as “pronoun trouble”.
Meanwhile, Bittergate has hurt Obama sooooo much that he now has a ten-point lead over Hillary and a two-point lead over McCain nationwide as of Gallup today.
Thanks for that. One would never guess those trends listening to the media noise. McCain has fallen against Hillary, and Obama’s lead over him is steady. Can this be one of those times when the media fails to move public opinion? I’m thinking of the Terry Schiavo circus.
dstatton: Yeah. It also reminds me of the spring and fall of 1998, when the talking heads were saying that Monica was gonna drag the Democrats down in the midterms and they wound up breaking even in the Senate and gaining five House seats. The media flatly refused to believe it would happen right up to election day.
Well, hey, it’s only Monday. Give the GOPress a chance to bloviate about this for another week or two — and barring a major distraction, you know they will — and we’ll see what happens.
I don’t think playing up the word “bitter” is working. Most people out there are bitter and aren’t afraid to say so. I expect the wingnuts will pick up on this and switch tactics to how Obama insulted religion again.
Dropped my NYT subscription over this article today and told them why I was doing so.
It was just the last straw.
Do the younger folk even know what a communist is? It’s getting to be a bit obscure. And I think it’s hard to make the Islamist sympathizer thing stick. Sliming your opponent has become such a chore nowadays.
If they did they might run screaming. Like I said, I lived through it. Anyone could be accused of being a Commie; people who favored fluoridating water, people who felt that persons of color should be treated equally, members of the press who dared to assert that America might not be the most perfectest nation on earth, most musicians and many liberals. It was an ugly fucking time. You could cut the paranoia with a knife. In other words, a Republican paradise.
That’s the kind of first sentence that screams “Skip the rest of this.”
A commie and an elitist!!! I guess that makes sense to some dumbfuck somewhere.
