Bangs are coming along nicely

Our favorite Bronx Bad Boy, Jason Mattera, is still busy fighting the "the battle for ideas" (to date he has yet to win a battle, much less a border skirmish or even a severe taunting).

Today he brings his special brand of, well, whatever it is that he does for the Young America's Foundation when not delivering pizzas or selling tube-socks on a corner, by trying to ruffle Ted Kennedy's feathers by asking why the Kennedy family funds foundations in lieu of paying estate taxes. It's all rather charming as Jason goes about this while remaining blissfully unaware that he himself works for a foundation.

Enjoy.

So it's the "hypocrisy", kinda like:

In 2004, Mattera appeared on CNN to promote a whites-only scholarship in protest of affirmative action. Mattera complained to anchor Daryn Kagan about scholarships “just for students of color.” He said, "There's a group of students on campus, a large group of students on campus who are handicapped and they're at a disadvantage. And they're at a disadvantage because of their Caucasian descent."

But later in the same interview, Mattera admitted that he had taken a scholarship from the Hispanic College Fund, a fund restricted to minorities. When Kagan asked why, if he was so offended by scholarships based on race, he had not given the money back, Mattera answered, “Well, Hispanic is not a race. Hispanic is -- you can't tell me what color Hispanic is. It's white, blank, Indian, Asian, Hispanic. It's not a race-based scholarship.”

Now because I am The Unity Blogger I feel that is is my duty to try and bring these two Americans together in this post-partisan world. Seeing as Jason is more than willing to accept "help" in the past from people he doesn't agree with, I thought it might be useful to point him to one of Ted Kennedy's foundations; in this case The Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation:

The Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation, established in 1946 by Ambassador and Mrs. Joseph P. Kennedy, honors their eldest son who was killed in World War II.

The mission of the Kennedy Foundation is to provide leadership in the field of intellectual disabilities and service to persons with intellectual disabilities, both those born and unborn, and their families.

This is not to say that Jason Mattera has "intellectual disabilities" (despite an overwhelming body of evidence that he does) but just to point that anyone can request funding for their "intellectual disabilities" regardless of whether they are white, blank, Indian, Asian, Hispanic...or even named Jason Mattera.

Help is there. All you have to do is ask.

And remember kids: every time you broker a compromise between a conservative and a liberal, David Broder gets his wings an erection.

Don't ask...
