Barack Obama throws his former pastor from a low-flying helicopter; the Reverend Wright’s body plummeting, spinning, and twisting through the tropical canopy, snapping branches and limbs before landing with a sickening thud. Later, smelling blood-mist in the air, a family of civets tentatively approaches the torn and grotesquely twisted body before gorging themselves upon the shredded flesh, entrails, and blood demanded by an American commentariat uninterested in reporting on policy.
There.
Wasn’t that better than "thrown under the bus"?

But has he *really* distanced himself from Wright’s comments? I mean, that’s what we’ll simply have to spend the next few weeks discussing, right? It’s not like McCain’s hypocritical approach to campaign financing (”I just leave the bills on her night table, and in the morning — poof! — they’re gone. By the way, that’s how I plan on dealing with the environment, the terrorists, and the economy, too…”) or the Preznit’s inability to convince even his die-hard sycophantic followers in the media that he hasn’t already begun to hit his post-presidency stash of Pabst Blue Ribbon…
Sing with us now:
It’s All Wright (Baby’s Coming Back)
And I don’t really care where he’s been.
It’s All Wright – baby’s coming back
And I won’t turn him around this time.
I’ll be your cliff (you can fall down from me).
I’ll be your ledge (you can lean upon me).
I’ll be your bridge, your flowering tree
You can still depend on me…
And I’ll be (the ticking of your clock).
And I’ll be (the numbers on your watch).
And I’ll be (your hands to stop the time).
I’ll even be your danger sign.
Thank you mr bogg sir.
This “bus” thing’s driven me crazy.
The only thing that will satisfy the commentariat is Obama shedding his black skin. Then he can become an angry white man and the press can have at that.
Your description is much better than “thrown under the bus” and more accurate.
The commentariat have screamed and bayed for blood of a pastor of a predominantly AA church. First they demonized, then they bayed.
However, the commentariat has not demanded one centime of accountability from the people who took us into a phony-based war. The dead and injured of that war, well, no worries. Why no. No, indeedy. We need to interrogate the content of Obama’s skin! How tough is he?! How authentic is he?! How “regular folk” is he?! The content of his skin — interrogate!!! Where’s his emotion?! Why won’t beer guzzling, white, “regular people” vote for him?!
The commentariat are despicable puketards. I won’t wait with bated breath for them to interrogate the spewings, whiteness and leavings of pastors like Robertson, Hagee, Dobson etc.
“or the Preznit’s inability to convince even his die-hard sycophantic followers in the media that he hasn’t already begun to hit his post-presidency stash of Pabst Blue Ribbon…”
I have a feeling that the “secret ingredient” in W’s “world famous” Texas-style BBQ sauce is a tad stronger than Pabst….
Civets? Been spending some time at the World Famous San Diego Zoo®, mr. bogg?
Done. ‘Thrown under the bus’ has been thrown under the bus. Damn, I mean from a low flying helicopter…
SUNDAY: Obama must denounce, repudiate, deny, spurn with X-treme prejudice Rev. Wright.
MONDAY: What kind of a man does that to his pastor??!1!
Good lord yes.
Confession: I often listen to ESPN Radio. Can’t help myself. I think they have a quota that someone has to use the phrase “thrown under the bus” at least 15 times per hour. Which is impressive since between all the commercials and Sports Center updates, the hosts are only on the air 30 minutes per hour.
I got a buzz under the throw on the couch (with my wife) Saturday night
I don’t understand. When did Jerome Bettis become the main political metaphor of our time?
In my perfect world, Obama would have assembled Tweety, Hannity, and rest of the Clucking Hens of the Airwaves, and told them, to their face, that since Rev. Wright accomplishes more on any random Tuesday afternoon than they will in their whole sorry lives, that maybe they should shut the fuck up and listen to the man. Then, he’d invite them to kiss his stealth-Muslim ass and walk out.
However, as Tbogg pointed out in what would surely contend for post-of-the-decade, I don’t live in that world.
But with the right combination of doobies, Pinot Noir, and Joni on the turntable, I still like to pretend…..
Yes, “under the bus” has definitely jumped the shark.
Based on watching Judy Woodruf’s reaction this morning, I think she would react to this scenario something like this:
“If Obama really meant it, he wouldn’t have used a “low-flying’ helicopter. Clearly trying to have it both ways. And why did he wait till now? I don’t trust him. Why won’t Obama repudiate himself? Why won’t he admit Rev Wright speaks for him?”
Helicopter? No, no. When you use a bus, you get to beep the horn gleefully to draw attention to the spectacle unfolding beneath the wheels.
Want laughs, consider this awfulness:

Never in my life could I imagine you could put good ingredients together and get such shit.
Of course, “thrown under the bus” comes from a bit longer adage, along the lines of someone who “is so greedy/opportunistic/unprincipled that he’d throw his own mother under a bus” to achieve his goals.
Which has made some of my watching of people thanking Obama for throwing Wright under a bus a little bit sad.
I love the Scarlett Jo. Tom Waits …. what can I say. He’s written the scariest, saddest, most unpleasant, angriest, most horrifying, and most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard, and often all on the same album(Bone Machine, anyone?).
But this thing Scarlett Jo has done….. the horror. Where were her People when she needed them?
