Blackwater gets a clean bill of health for the indiscriminate killing of brown people who probably had it coming:
Blackwater Worldwide, the security contractor blamed by an angry Iraqi government for the shooting deaths of 17 civilians, is not expected to face criminal charges — all but ensuring the company will keep its multimillion-dollar contract to protect U.S. diplomats.
Instead, the 7-month-old Justice Department investigation is focused on as few as three or four Blackwater guards who could be indicted in the Sept. 16 shootings, according to interviews with a half-dozen people close to the investigation.
The final decision on any charges will not be made until late summer at the earliest, a law enforcement official said. All spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the investigation.
Combined with the KBRapefest Iraq has turned into a sociopaths wet dream. Fidel Castro dumped a bunch of his criminals into the Mariel Boatlift. George Bush created a WPA program for them at Halliburton and Blackwater.

Stories like this make me understand the attraction of religion. A belief in hell, or karmic retribution through reincarnation as a lower form of life*, would be some small comfort here.

In my mind, Blackwater is the most obvious example of how badly our democracy has been damaged by the Bush cabal. If someone had told me 6 years ago that we’d have a mercenary organization running half the military ops in Iraq, making billions of dollars from the US government while being incorporated via shell companies in the Caymans to avoid SS taxes, unemployment insurance, and FICA, and that the press would treat it as a totally normal aspect of modern American life, I would have found that person to be a total paranoid. And look at where we are; Blackwater is accepted by the press and the country as no big deal, nothing to see here.
Once this election gets down to just 2 candidates, I want to see this issue beaten with a big stick by the political action committees, preferrably by using some calls to the founding fathers about the use of mercenary organizations, combined with the reports of the many who’ve been wronged by these bastards.

I agree with that. In fact, I can confidently predict that the final decision on any charges will not be made until January 20, 2009 at the earliest.

Until the corporate heads are held accountable by being LOCKED UP (not tried, not convicted, not fined…) this shit will continue to happen.
