I take great comfort in knowing that the guys who are going to "fix" the Republican party include Adam "Howdy Doody-Looking Nimrod" Putnam and Eric "Solutions Factory" Cantor, two lock-step Conservatives who will bring more of the same.
Meanwhile John McCain has been put in the position of running away from George Bush...and his own party:
Advisers to Mr. McCain said they thought the problems Congressional Republicans were having would not translate into significant problems for Mr. McCain. But they said it steeled their resolve to run a campaign that distinguished Mr. McCain from both Mr. Bush and a Congress where he has served, in the House and the Senate, since January 1983. They said Mr. McCain would seek — sometimes explicitly, sometimes not — to distance himself by speaking critically of what he has described as excessive spending in Washington, as well on issues like the environment.
“There’s no question that the results in these special elections portend ominously for House Republicans, but they will have little impact on the presidential election campaign,” said Steve Schmidt, a senior adviser to Mr. McCain.
Because John McCain is not a Republican; he's a Maverick, a loner, Dottie. A rebel.

Cue this:
Nowhere to run to, baby
Nowhere to hide
Got nowhere to run to, baby
Nowhere to hide
It’s not love
I’m running from
It’s the heartaches
That I know will come
‘Cause I know
You’re no good for me
But you`ve become
A part of me
Everywhere I go
Your face I see
Every step I take
You take with me, yeah
Nowhere to run to, baby
Nowhere to hide
Got nowhere to run to, baby
Nowhere to hide
I know you’re
No good for me
But free of you
I’ll never be, no
Each night as I sleep
Into my heart you creep
I wake up feeling sorry I met you
Hoping soon that I’ll forget you
etc. etc. Thank you, Martha.
“PeeWee” McCain.
HAH!
Actually, I was thinking more of this:
Forces of evil on a bozo nightmare
Ban all the music with a phony gas chamber
cuz ones got a weasel and the others got a flag
Ones on the pole, shove the other in a bag
With the rerun shows and the cocaine nose-job
The daytime crap of the folksinger slob
He hung himself with a guitar string
A slab of turkey-neck and its hangin from a pigeon wing
You cant write if you cant relate
Trade the cash for the beef for the body for the hate
And my time is a piece of wax fallin on a termite
Who’s chokin on the splinters
Soy un perdedor
Im a loser baby, so why dont you kill me?
(get crazy with the cheese whiz)
Soy un perdedor
Im a loser baby, so why dont you kill me?
(drive-by body-pierce)
(yo bring it on down)
Soooooooyy….
(Im a driver, Im a winner; things are gonna change I can feel it)
The Dim Angry Old Man is a dangerous lunatic who will do anything for money.
Maybe they can convince everyone that they were hypnotized by Dick Cheney. That has just about as much chance as the other ideas they’ve floated. “Change You Deserve,” bwahahaha!
Maybe if the Repubs were to bundle up Bush, Cheney, Rummy and Rice and send them off to the Hague, they could save a few seats in the fall. But, since they are doing that Tammy Wynette/Hillary Clinton “Stand By Your Man” thing, probably not.
Has anyone asked McMaverick if he has made any painful sacrifice, a la Great Leader giving up his golf game?
McCains not the only one thats not republican anymore. I watched C-Span and the vote Chyron had new graphics: democrat, not-republican, and independent. I wonder what that means?
Too bad his “no GOP hugging” policy was implemented after Bush’s full-body embrace.
“Not who I said I was last week to get your vote….” now that’s the ultimate pander. Hope he wears earth tones when he says that crap.
Too late. The picture’s out. That picture needs to be on every piece of Dem literature. Use it as the official photo of McCain.
Worked to oust a DFL mayor of StPaul…
“The voters of St. Paul spoke on November 8, 2005. Incumbent mayor Randy Kelly was defeated by the challenger, Chris Coleman. Coleman received 40,601 votes, or 69% of the total while Kelly, with 31% of the total, received 18,203 votes. It was the first defeat of an incumbent St. Paul mayor in 33 years and the worst margin of defeat for an incumbent in the city’s history.
What went wrong for Mayor Kelly? The immediate answer was Kelly’s endorsement of George W. Bush in the 2005 presidential election. St. Paul is a DFL stronghold and DFL voters do not take kindly to candidates who support a Republican President. “

Sorry, forgot the punchline.
During the whole campaign, I received only one flyer in the mail from Coleman. On the front was a picture of Coleman & how good he would be for the city, yadda, yadda, yadda… On the back was a picture of a smiling Kelly with Bush. It was taken when Kelly announced he supported the war in Iraq & the way Bush was running the war.
Kelly went down in flames.
So, I repeat, all Dem mailings should contain the picture of the weepy, huggy, arms wrapped in his bff, McCain.
