Haydn60, I would be happy if the vinyl could magically turn digital. I have this dream of converting some of the stuff to CD and MP3, but never get around to it. For a while (around 1980) I was able to find some Japanese import EMI LPs with nice performances from the 1930s – Vienna Philharmonic with Bruno Walter conducting and playing piano for a Mozart piano concerto – and that sort of thing in the cutout bin for about $1.99. Of course, the liner notes are a bit difficult to read.

Ah, thanks for the correction. I downloaded it from eMusic–it’s on a great compilation called Disco/Not Disco - 1974-1986–and they had the artist/title info wrong. So I sort of had to guess at the title.

I need to put a slight caveat on my book recommendation…it will likely be “fascinating” to a group of women (and maybe men) of a certain age with a love of a certain genre of music. As is the case with most books….it’s appeal has limits. But I am enjoying it immensely. However,I’m not sure Tbogg feels the same way when I keep interrupting him to read a passage out loud…
