As noted over at the mothership, Firedoglake is doing some furniture moving this evening and so we’ll be down for awhile. I thought I would leave a video up by someone whose birthday was today but the best I could come up with was Jewel, and, well….no.
So we’ll just wish Bob Dylan a happy 67th tomorrow.

In ‘85, I saw Dylan at the U.C. Berkeley Greek Theatre, with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. It’s still my favorite Dylan show I’ve ever seen, if only for Dylan’s greeting to an old friend in the crowd. “I knew Wavy Gravy before he was…Wavy Gravy,” he said in that highly imitable accent, before playing “The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll”.
As I survey the worlds of politics, news, and music & entertainment, I can only conclude…now is the time for our tears.
Happy Birthday, Bob.
I cannot believe that he’s 67. Of course, I can’t also believe that I’m 54. My brain tells me that I’m still 17…I’m going with my brain.
Mr Zimmerman, bon anniversaire.
The off-camera upright bass player kind of gets lost and loses the tempo about half way thru that version. He’s almost a full beat ahead of Dylan for a while there. As a drummer, I get nervous when that happens.
And serge, if you need a reason to believe that Dylan is actually 67, listen to his singing voice now.
Happy birthday, Bob.
Here’s another one from maybe that same television show –
Bob Dylan – Man of Constant Sorrow
Then of course from the same era - Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall – Bob Dylan
Happy Birthday, Zimmy! How about one from the Canadian Bob Dylan. It seems to work for Memorial Day as well.
In tribute, I took my new 250cc scooter out on Highway 61.
It was very easily done.
