This is actually surprisingly monumentally stupid, even by Jonah’s standards. I am certainly glad he is working for the other side and pray that they take his advice, along with that of Bloody Billy KKKristol. If they do, we are guaranteed that they shall wander in the wilderness for at least forty years. As to “rebuilding their brand,” I can but paraphrase the Bard: “An elephant turd by any other name still reeks to high heaven.”

My college age daughter has a good friend who happens to be gay. He is also a Republican and working for a Republican Congressman.

I said “I don’t understand how anyone who is gay would be a Republican.”

My kids said “Mom, you don’t understand why anyone would be a Republican!”

After a moments thought I replied, “Not true, I can understand why a rich, white, heterosexual man might be a Republican. But why would anyone else be?”

I’m not sure how the Republicans are going to be able to “rebuild their brand” (buzz phrase du jour) in four years by driving away the 20% of true believers that they still have left.

Perhaps ole’ Pillsbury is onto something, because as far as I can tell job one on the rebranding project is precisely to ditch the Bush dead-enders.

McCain/Ronald Reagan’s Corpse

Reagan’s corpse will make McCain appear animated by contrast.
Republicans’ veneration of Reagan means that McCain will immediately recover the R’s base, most of whom show about the same level of brain activity as Reagan currently does.
Some may raise the 22nd Amendment as an issue but the amendment doesn’t forbid a dead president from serving a third term. Face it; the right wing would prefer a dead Reagan to a live McCain.
