I’m sorry. I love tbogg and his entire lovely and talented family (pets included) but this dog in the manger attitude is just stupid. I can never figure out the thinking here. If Hillary were to get the nomination do you seriously mean that you would sit at home, stroking your integrity, while McCain became President? Do you really want McCain naming the next Supreme Court justices? Do you want Dracula Phil Gramm as Secretary of the Treasury? Another four years of the hackerama at the so called Justice Department? I could go on. I wonder if Nader voters read the casualty reports from Iraq. Do you want to be doing the same next year?

If a candidate that I did not particularly support was on the ballot, I just wouldn’t vote. However, if it’s a candidate who is thrust upon me by the powers that be and is the antithesis of what I want in a President, the only fair thing would be to go on over to the polls and vote against Hillary Clinton. It wouldn’t be good enough to vote for Ralph Nader or Bob Barr, because that is the same as not voting. I would be compelled to vote for John McCain so that my protest vote is double the fun. And what of the consequences of a John McCain presidency? “You should have thought of that before you made Hillary Clinton the only other candidate,” I would say as Rome burns.

Tbogg,

The confusion may stem from that portion of your “apostate post” where you say, “The reality on the ground for us is that we do pretty well for ourselves under a Republican administration…” I admit it takes a leap of logic to go from that to assuming you will vote for McCain but I think many people, myself included, made that leap on the first reading.

I would just choose to not choose.

I can’t believe you’re driving me to this, but I’m going to have to quote Rush lyrics at you:

“If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.”

There, don’t you feel bad now?

I’ve been an Obama supporter ever since I heard his first speech when he was running for U.S. Senate here in Illinois. But even if Hillary somehow bamboozles her way into the Dem nomination, I’d still vote for her because the United States that I’ve known for my entire life may well not survive four more right wing dominated years.

Hillary lost me when she voted for the AMUF; like me, she was around during the Gulf of Tonkin and surely knew what she was allowing the First Chimp to do but she did it anyway. It showed a serious lack of judgment and has kept me seriously pissed off at her and all the others who voted for that bit of un-American crap ever since. But still…

Yeah, Bob Barr seems insane in a more interesting way than McCain and Nader. He seems less sociopathic.

“I can’t believe it. It is just frantic the way they are trying to push and pressure and bully all these superdelegates to come out,” Clinton said at a South Dakota campaign stop Sunday, in remarks first reported by “ABC News.”

I don’t suppose that it ever occurred to him that some of us weren’t overly thrilled that Hillary had been anointed with the bottle of Mazola in the basement pantry of the DNC almost a year prior to the first primary as the heir apparent for the Democratic Presidential nomination.

Bill is sounding more and more like a wingnut conspiracy theorist, these days. Must be the residual effect of hanging out with Bush Pere.

I assure you, leaving the ballot blnk is very easy and good for the soul, when it proves necessary. You simply vote for your Representative and/or Senator (or their opponent), any downballot initiatives and then you leave the Presidential space blank.

I did it when Mrs. Clinton’s husband ran for re-election in ‘96 because I felt giving him my vote for President was a poor reward for him metaphorically kicking me in the groin for four years.
