Oh, for those really worried about McClelland “selling out”, please note that the job he had was that of a PR flack and long time communications man for George Bush.

Beyond that, he wrote this for a small publishing house. The big money that he could have gotten was being a PR flack for Exxon or something. I hear the Bushies had connections with the oil bidness and could have helped him out.

I’m not saying he’s a profile in courage. I’m saying, he had long sold out and, in his profession with his resume, could have named a salary in the private sector.

I wondered about that as well. I know it seems like a little too little, and a little too late, though as I recall we had people like Richard Clarke and Henry Paulson writing books that said these guys were idiots way back when, but the evil liberal MSM wasn’t interested so their stories faded away. Not this time it seems. Scotty drew a bit more blood than the previous sinking-ship-jumpers did, and the story seems to have a lot more legs than I would have expected even 1 year ago.

Plus, the more it enrages the enrageosphere, the long it lives. Keep up the parsing guys, we’ve loving it, including the Faux Spews head who said that Scotty better not have any skeletons in his closet, or else.

For what it’s worth, McClellan looked to me like he was uncomfortable with the lying. Ari relished it. That tiny pang of conscience was in there somewhere. I can’t engage in the Scotty bashing anyway. Just enjoy the show.

After a beat Caspar shuts his mouth. His eyes lose some of
their glaze. He looks at The Dane’s hand, turns and
strides towards the door.

Caspar

He opens the docr, but Leo’s voice stops him.

Leo
(softly)
Johnny. You’re exactly as big as I let you be
and no bigger and don’t forget it. Ever.

Caspar looks at Lea from the open doorway. After a beat he
chuckles.

Caspar
Ats right, Leo, you’re the big-shot around here.

He dances over at Tom again, then back to Leo:

. . . And I’m just some schnook likes to get
slapped around.

He leaves, The Dane following, shutting the door.

There is an interesting twist in all this: the whiners are saying Scotty now “sounds like a liberal blogger”. OK, and since 77% of the country is now feeling like perhaps (1) Scotty is telling the truth, and (2) Bush is beyond sucktastic, then I suspect the final result with the 77% could very possibly be: “hey, them librul bloggers were RIGHT, let’s go read them!” Tbogg, you are about to become a whole lot more popular!

well, the partial answer anyway — i mean who is gonna buy ol’ scottie’s book? you? me? it is to laugh, and throw up a little in our mouths — but letting the thugs all spill their guts might be a help for a grand jury. or that mythic, mystic, water-colour fantasy: The Hague!!! Yow!
