Over at No Hillary/No Peace they have moved beyond the dead-ender stage and have become Dead-Parrots-R-Us:
Via Jeralyn at TalkLeft:
Barack Obama and John McCain are in a statistical dead heat according to the Daily Gallup tracking poll. Why? Seems to me to be the high number of undecideds combined with those who won’t vote for either.
As Karl Rove has been mentioning frequently on Fox News, during the same general pre-convention time period, Michael Dukakis enjoyed a 12-14% advantage over George W. Bush.
The key appears to be the large number of undecided voters or those who do not wish to vote for either candidate. Why is this so, and how can we take advantage of this disturbing polling that shows that the DNC has selected a weak candidate?
From Gallup: “[T]he structure of the race looks slightly different than at any other time this year as a result of the relatively high percentage of voters — 15% — not favoring either major-party candidate. This includes 7% of voters who say they are undecided and 8% who say they will not vote for either candidate. …”
May I assert that one reason for this large number of undecided voters is that Barack Obama has so forcibly seized control of the Democratic party, its DNC apparatus, and the convention? (There is also, of course, his and his campaign’s repugnant treatment of Hillary Clinton, and his failure to make any outreach to her supporters.)
[...]
We fear — and the rumors are flying all over the Internet — that Howard Dean is seeking to eliminate a floor vote and to remove Hillary Clinton’s name from the ballot at the National Convention.Whenever people are not allowed their VOTING RIGHTS under the rules of the Democratic national party, there will be bitter divisiveness.
As we see from the history of the Dukakis nomination, delegates for other candidates were permitted to vote freely.
This is an AHISTORICAL FIRST! It is fundamentally undemocratic. It goes against all that our nation stands for.
This is why — to put it very simply — we must find a way to wrest control of the Democratic party from the power grab by Barack Obama.
Obama’s moves — and the acquiesence of hood-ornament DNC Chair Howard Dean and Speaker Nancy Pelosi — must be FOUGHT.
Now you know why they always want brains…

While over at “No Quarter” last night, Flowbee and friends ran a poll that asked: “Are we the saddest racist ratfuckers on teh intertubes or ain’t we?”
“We didn’t win, so this is inherently unfair!!!”
Spoken like true adults.
Unfortunately for Dukakis, Chimpy wasn’t running at the time.
Is it too early after the Kentucky Derby for cracks about dead horses?
Right. Quoting Karl Rove as a reason to FIGHT for a candidate facing Rove’s pick is a great way to make your point.
Unfortunately for Dukakis, Chimpy wasn’t running at the time.
Oh, somehow I mentally edited in an “H.”. Good catch.
They can parse Gallup’s daily tracking poll if they like, but I prefer Poblano.

I talked to this guy who said he had a friend who’s mother’s cousin worked at the DNC? and she heard that Howard Dean is actually Obama’s secret white love child, and Obama is actually a reptilian multi-dimensional time pirate who got caught in a time vortex and needed to change history from it’s correct path – Hillary being elected president, obviously – so he bewitched enough fools with his super future reptile powers to join his cult and they overwhelmed all the hard working righteous voters who were clear eyed enough to know that, well, something just wasn’t right about that guy, and now at the convention after all the Clinton delegates are illegally and brutally silenced by his army of pachoulli powered kill-bots they will lock the doors and Obama will shed his human skin and slaughter the righteous, hard working disenfranchised Clinton delegates who will cry out in despair…
“Why? Why has Democracy forsaken us? Hillary! HILLARY!!!”
That’s what I heard, anyway.
One of the dead-enders in comments actually links to Pam Atlas. That’s quite a collection Larry has accumulated over there.
from the comments over there in lalaland:
“real Dems” vote straight ticket on everything but the President? everyone else is a “DINO”?
i would not be opposed to an IQ test to qualify people for voting.
On a personal, professional, and even political level, this year has been really fucking depressing, leading me to wonder:
Where the hell is a Vogon Constructor Fleet when you need one?
Man, I had a lot of cocktails watching the US Open, but this stuff is sobering me up fast.
Yo, Jeralyn, time to be SANE! You know, soon if not now.
Even Hillary would consider this stupid and lame. Anyone who thinks Obama is less centrist, less left, than Clinton is objectively stupid, despite their degrees, education, and status.
Yo, Jeralyn and Co! We know he’s a N****R! Has it crossed your mind that a black guy may need to come across as a little bit “center” when he’s running for President? Apparently not.
Objectively, McCain is a really bad candidate. His love of the camera over the last 10 years is going to make for fabulous fodder over the next 5 months. Sorry you don’t want to climb on board. Presumably, Jeralyn M., you want some more Alito’s on the SC.
It is creepily strange and interesting to watch otherwise smart people give up all their credibility for identity politics. I would have voted for either of them, happily, along with Lassie and most of the people I know personally before I voted for McCain.
I would vote for Mrs. Bogg on the principle that a beautiful woman with brains could get anyone anywhere to go along with their lovely selves. Plus, she married you, TBogg, so she couldn’t be a total moron. Count her in as a potentially great politician.
Sad to say that some otherwise smart “Democrats” are, at least right now, very engaged in moronitude.
Christ, the more I think about it, the funnier it gets.
Obama has been at the center of a “power grab.” Hillary, obviously, never had any to begin with. Greatest. Theft. Ever.
I mean, one year ago, who could Obama have counted on other than those pesky voters and existing rules? The rules Hillary thought would be no problem, having failed to plan beyond Feb.?
Even Hillary gets it. Not so the Hillarybots. Me thinks people should keep their eyes on the actual ball, though that’s obviously too much to ask for some.
A little bit of me hopes the Clinton chicks elect McCain. Because I would never have seen a better example of cutting off the proverbial nose.
I’m a big fan of amazing stupidity. Or amazing sanity, or amazing human behavior of any kind.
. . . the rumors are flying all over the Internet. . .
OK. For a minute there, I thought they might not have a reliable source for this information.
I can only imagine that Jeralyn thought that somehow she was going to be a shoo-in for either Attorney General or the Supreme Court if only Hillary could take the White House. Hillary is not stupid — Jeralyn wouldn’t have a chance. It’s a shame to see someone who actually believes her own fantasies and wants everyone else to join in.
8% who would not vote for either candidate is significant. Jeralyn is not wrong to point it out.
But the roll call of the states has not been anything more than a formality since Bill Clinton was nominated, if not before. The only network who covered it was C-SPAN.
Why this is so wrong: Obama got a unity bounce of 7 points. If the reason for being undecided or unwilling to vote for him was anger at the way Hillary was treated, there would be no such bounce. There must be something which he did after Hillary dropped out of the race. Refusing the town halls might be an action which would make people skeptical.
Thank you for that thought -Resistance is useless!
But also – “One of the dead-enders in comments actually links to Pam Atlas.”
Really, what more needs to be said, sad that anyone takes Atlas seriously. The online community needs a new version of Godwin’s Rule. Any serious invocation of the spewings of either Pammycakes or Michele “trying to pretend I’m a WASP” Malkin should result in immediate death to the thread involved. Mental illness should not be encouraged.

Hello, Elvis! Last time I watched the whole sorry mess on the MSM, it was Hillary who’d never met a podium she wouldn’t mount a soapbox for; and it was Hillary who had her designer nails dug into the party apparatus so deeply that Dean couldn’t drag her sorry carcass off of center stage for months after it became obvious that she lacked the momentum to actually WIN!
I can proudly say that Hillary supporter Anglachel is smarter than this No Quarter poster. Why she links to that blog is beyond me. Anglachel has correctly said that there have been Stevensonian Democrats and Trumanian Democrats since, well, Stevenson and Truman. Neither sort is a DINO.
