Who are you going to believe, Gun Counter Gomer who posts emails:
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to "The War Zone". I wanted to share with you what happened. He got off the plan[sic] and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram. As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn’t say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service. So really he was just here to make a showing for the American’s back home that he is their candidate for President.
and
95% of base wanted nothing to do with him. I have met three troops who support him, and literally hundreds who regard him as a buffoon, a charlatan, a hindrance to their mission or a flat out enemy of progress. Even when the rumors were publicly admitted, almost no one left their duty sections to try to see him, unless they were officers whose presence was officially required.
Or are you going to believe your own lying stupid eyes:
Sure, he was shooting hoops in Kuwait in the video, but those soldiers aren’t in the shit, man. They. Don’t. Count.
Frankly, I think Gomer’s email correspondents are lying to him and that he should go all Scott Beauchamp on their asses before they lose the war for us.
(Update) Whoopsie:
The latest chain e-mail smear against Barack Obama: He "blew off" troops at an Afghan base to shoot hoops for a publicity photo.
The letter was apparently written by a Utah Army National Guard intelligence officer in a linguist unit at Bagram Airfield who claimed the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee was rude to G.I.s.
"As the soldiers where [sic] lined up to shake his hand he blew them off," wrote the Task Force Wasatch "battle captain."
But angry Army brass debunked the Obama-bashing soldier’s allegations, which went viral Thursday over the Web and on military blogs such as Blackfive.
The e-mail claims Obama repeatedly shunned soldiers on his way to the Clamshell – a recreation tent – to "take his publicity pictures playing basketball."
"These comments are inappropriate and factually incorrect," said Bagram spokesman Army Lt. Col. Rumi Nielson-Green, who added that such political commentary is barred for uniformed personnel.
Obama didn’t play basketball at Bagram or visit the Clamshell, he said. Home-state troops were invited to meet him, but his arrival was kept secret for security reasons.
"We were a bit delayed … as he took time to shake hands, speak to troops and pose for photographs," Nielson-Green said.
E-mails to the officer who made the charges and a call to his wife were not returned.
….does this mean that Gomer owes me money?
Cool. I’m going to give it to Jim Brady.

Well, to be fair, after the last eight years I’m not all that certain I believe video footage of any politician isn’t staged, but GCG hasn’t exactly covered himself with credibility, either.
The same bogus-sounding letter was read by brainiac Neal Boortz on the radio this morning. Smells like yet another Rovian spam-mail assault.
Five bucks the email is traced back to a laptop at the 101st Fighting Keyboardists’ front line base of operations for the War on Terra’ located in Deferrment, Wyoming.
You think that TIDOS Yankee gets letters from the less, um, pasty sections of the armed forces?
Still, it’s curious that he’s not going to give them a case of the Beauchamps to ensure their stories check out.
Main difference between Scott Beauchamp and the Gomer/Blackfive emailers: Scott Beauchamp has a name.
Yeah, I’d love to see the headers on that email.
Let’s see, this video and also the reports a few weeks ago that greater than 50% of the political contributions from enlisted personnel are going to Democratic candidates/party. And yet we have this seemingly blast-faxed bit of a supposedly boots on the ground account. The stink of Rovian tactics and the desperation behind them is getting rather intense, don’t you think?
Snopes.com is tracking this down now.

This is a tough one to suss out. It’s got the obligatory apostrophe s plural marker but is doesn’t start out, “I used to be a Democrat…”
Well you know the view of events really is dramatically different when your head is shoved as far up your ass as Gomer’s is.
Swear to God this is a true story. In the early 80’s or late 70’s my brother(Dan) and I were watching a Yankee vs Red Sox game(at Yankee Stadium) when Lou Pinella came up to bat. In response to the crowd’s reaction, my mother, who was standing behind us ironing (she was always doing that), pipes up, “You know Dan, they aren’t booing him. They’re saying ‘Pinnnneeeeellla’.” She has never lived that down.
by the way we weren’t at the game it was on TV although my mother would have probably brought her ironing board to Yankee Stadium.
The header of the email via Snopes; “Hussein’s Visit to Afghanistan”, pretty much gives the game away. A nice added touch is “I’m not a very political person” — no, just an exceptionally petty one.
But yeah, it makes total sense Obama would fly all the way to a base in Afghanistan for various meetings and photo ops and not do a little gladhandling — what better way to fool everyone in America than snub the troops in front of a plane full of reporters?
True to form, Obama probably turned to the troops with a sneer and barked, “what do you little jerks want?” Oh, wait… that was Krusty McSame? Oh.
Commenter at Blackfive, where they have not acknowledged that the email is BS: Even if it is not true, what is important is that I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened.
And they haven’t a clue just how blindly and insanely biased they are. (Or nuts, if you prefer.)
A lie goes halfway around the world before the truth gets its boots on. The GOP knows that and has mastered SPAM politics.
But my favorite part is who wrote the email. A linguist. A very cunning linguist for sure, but somehow I doubt that in the social hierarchy of the military in war time, a linguist is the most revered guy on base.
“Dude, I served in Afghanistan!” “no way! you kill anyone?” “nah, but I studied some crazy phonemes. It was seriously glottal. Civilians just can’t understand.”
There could be a major scandal buried inside all the noise about Obama’s trip. It may wind up becoming “Obamagate” if the mainstream media has the balls to follow it up. Read More.http://www.tagg-lines.com/2008…..dirty.html
Boots on the keyboard.
Wouldn’t a linguist have to have a better command of his first language than this dude?
Gotta love GCG’s non-correction correction up on his site now.
Shorter:
Even though every fact in the email was wrong, that doesn’t mean the facts in the email were wrong.
Those clowns must slam 84 ounces of stupid every morning …
