Now that Godlstein has flown the coop, Dan Collins, bon vivant and stalker about town, picks up the semiotic torch and takes it out for a spin:
Now, as I’ve said, I don’t know much about this guy. I’ve never read a book by any of the three mentioned. Never had any interest, especially in Savage. From what I’ve heard from O’Reilly and Hannity, I’d say they were very pro-religious righties. Still, it seems to me that we are seeing, as commenters noted this morning, the creation of a meme that scrubs (to use the presently favored term) the possibility of anti-Christian sentiment from the meme because of the cognitive dissonance this sets up for lefties, who would rather see this as a symptom of the related clinging to religion and guns that one would naturally expect to find in backassward Tennessee.
The evil correlation of these two elements in radical Islam is the result of root causes, but when it comes to this country, well, face it, we’re downright mean. And this despite the evidence suggesting that this guy blamed some of his troubles with his last ex-wife with the values that she had preached to her in church.
More, despite the obvious differences, the bitterness of this killer toward those who are not like him, the intolerance, is evidenced journalistically in the desire to fit the circumstances into a preexisting paradigm that flatters the intellectual predispositions of the ideology through which they view the world. O’Reilly and Hannity must therefore be hatemongers, if one who committed such an atrocity had them in his library. What those who commit atrocities in the name of Allah, on the other hand, is immaterial, because their violence is due entirely to the misinterpretations forced upon them by root causes.
It's like baby just had his "intentionalism" and "signifier" training wheels finally removed and now he's riding with the big boys.
Adorable.

The Stalker can turn from clueless to incoherent on a dime.
O’Reilly invited terrorists to attack San Francisco, so of course he’s a hate-mongering prick. Ditto Hal Turner’s pal Hannity.

The second sentence needs a little polishing in order to be fully idiotic.
When Truthiness is on your side, you may abuse pronouns and syntax any fucking way you choose.
As per a post at Jesus General, Confederate Yankee attributes Adkissons actions on a hatred of Christianity.
My the fellers are floppin’ on the dock. Fact is, a true believer acted out the collective wingnut fantasy, kill the hated liberals. Fact is Collins is less than one degree separated from the trio of pundits he dismisses.
Lastly, it wasn’t his library, it was his crime statement. Your list of red herrings: radical Islam, ex-wife, and your clean diaper mean nothing except to hilight your guilt and complicity. Prick.

Well, Ann Coulter and the like have been slipping in these idiotic comments about shooting liberals into their comments for quite a while now, but on the other hand, I think most modern Americans are too contented to take part in something like violent political actions (like assassinations or bombings).
I think once we get more liberal government though and it provides things people really need, people are going to be contented with it, and attitudes like Coulter’s, O’Reilly’s, and what the killer represents are going to die down a bunch. Just look at Barack Obama. 40 years ago or so this campaign would have been unthinkable because there would have been too much opposition. Now rioting on the street or just speaking out angrily through letters and radio shows because a black man may be President is just too much effort for many of America’s racists. People have lived peacefully with black people and benefitted from them for so long, than in their hearts they know Barack’s being black isn’t a big deal.
If there’s one thing that is constant between our Christian Taliban and the Islamic equivalent it’s their moral certitude. Gawd is on their side. Of course, we’ve given the radical Islamic fringe the upper hand in marginalizing the rational ME moderate center by invading/occupying Iraq. When your Party has to pander to the most ignorant and religious factions of our society, it’s no big stretch to see why their foreign policy agenda is to get a billion people hating us. It helps to keep the flock fearful and voting against their best interests.
Polysyllabic incoherence! I did not realize they had it in them since Buckley died. Of course rightwing talkers who actually advocate violence against liberals, progressives, and others that they disagree with are by no means hat mongers. In contrast, Islam, which specifically prohibits killing civilians and noncombatants (Surah 2:190-192), is a religion of hate and death.
Man, that dude writes like he thinks he’s Jeff Godlstein or something. He’s full of blah-bity goodness.
I’d be willing to bet good American money that none of these dimwit “entertainers” or bloggers steps foot inside a church more than twice a year.

OK. Umm … What the fuck does this mean? Evidenced journalistically? Wha? Flatters the intellectual dispositions?
I am categorically challenged by the obtuse and metaphorically historic paean to the mores of consumerist societies.
See? I’m Smaht! Not like, dumb! I’m smaht and I want respeck!
Anyone wanna bet how long till Godlstein returns? I got two months… just in time for a fall fundraiser.
Well, a UU church isn’t necessarily a Christian church (per my raised-UU sister-in-law). A UU church would also be known as an outpost of liberalism.
Also we have this guy’s own statements that he wanted to kill liberals.
I hope TBogg’s dog is doing better.
Satchmo would have a clearer understanding and more persuasive presentation than this.
Beckham would probably just get everything all messy.
Fenway? Fenway would pee on the ‘writer’.
Polysyllabic incoherence!
That’s gonna be my new interjection for August.
Who’s Dan trying to impress with this elitist rhetoric? Certainly not the typical reader of PW. They’ll need an in-house interpreter to translate this into their native cockspeak.
That’s a good point - who is going to translate Stalker Dan the OCD Man’s pretentious faux Buckley-ese into Cockslap Corral-speak?
They’re not Bill Buckley Republicans anymore. They’re more your Rock Ridge Republican. You know, morons.
Great minds yadda yadda
Right off the bat, if a guy makes Goldstein look like a prince, he’s on bad shape.
They seem to have plenty of functional illiterates and plenty of people too well-educated to write a coherent paragraph. I’m beginning to think Dwight MacDonald was way too hard on the middlebrow.
Yeah, I guess all that Liberal Hating rhetoric is coming to roost.
Dan’s in “de Nile” ‘n Sunk w/o a pfd to protect his argument that the killer was a Christian hater. So why’d he pick the Liberal church Danny boy? Any informed person knows that many, if not most so-called Christians think the Unitarians are Communists and Atheists. Natch, a Liberal-hater would xoom in on the Unitarians like a pig on slop. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, how can Dan Collins be so dense?
The brave Unitarians who stopped the blood flowing and jumped the trigger man from the Right deserve my full respect and gratitude.
