Just a brief update on America’s Most Beloved Dogs Who Liive In My House™.
First Beckham: no report on his tests but we’re all expecting it to be colitis. Antispasmodics and the re-addition of FortiFlora to his diet seems to have turned him around and he’s back to being Beckham-ish and sleeping with us except that he now requires that I keep a hand on him until he falls asleep. That’s new.
Satchmo: His doctor has upped his steroid dosage and added muscle relaxers to go with his pain pills. The radiologist sees a possible problem with one of his vertebrae but we’re going to let the drugs do their thing first. This morning he was up and ready to go and, besides walking slowly, seemed much better. This evening he was stiffer and groanier, so it felt like a step backwards. After eating this evening he groaned and crawled under our bed to his favorite spot and I thought that would be the last I saw of him for the evening, but he quickly reappeared when he heard me get out the Nilla Wafers box. He’s sucker for Nilla Wafers no matter how much he hurts. I’m a glass half empty guy but mrs tbogg is a half full kind of gal, so we are balancing each other out. Thanks for everyone’s suggestions, we’re taking them very seriously.
As for Fenway, he’s not getting enough play and attention and we’re trying to correct that on our part, although sending him off to military school certainly has its attractions…

Thanks for taking time to let all The Fans of The Boys know how all are doing.
Good to hear that Beckham’s doing better. I think you’ll probably have to put a hand on him till sleepy-time now for a long while — pretty much once is a tradition with the four-leggers.
I’m with Mrs. Tbogg. Glass half-full is better. As for Satchmo being stiffer and groanier at night than in the morning, what’s wrong with that? Aren’t you?
The picture of Fenway is perfect. A little dose of pure puppy gaze goes a long way towards making the world better.
I hope the Tbogg Bassetts are better every day now till everyone is strong again.
You know, I think you really do have America’s most beloved dogs.
Here’s wishing them all, the the TBoggs the best.
Cautious optimism! That’s the ticket.
Thank you for the progress report on the Boyz. Am inclined to think that your and MrsTBogg’s love for them is the active ingredient. Noting the hand on Beckham- touch is also an element in healing.
Wishing you all a very good, turning the corner kind of Thursday.
I join in appreciating the latest bulletins from BNN (the Basset News Network). Good thoughts for all–playtime for Fenway, a comforting hand for Becks, and relief and joy for the Old Gentleman.
Nilla Wafers, YAY!!!!!
GOOD BOYS.
All of you.
Stay!
When my dogs are dawdling in the yard, ignoring shouts of “Come!” and “Treat!”, one word always brings them charging into the house: “Cookies!” (Cookies = Nilla Wafers.) My dogs are so smart.
Thanks so much for the update, TBogg. Sending more good thoughts to the family and your precious boys.
aaack! didn’t even know any of the boys were ailing. sending healing thoughts your way.
smooches and tummy rubs for all
We had a beagle many years ago who was a sucker for ginger snaps. He’d just go bonkers if we were eating them. After he ate his share, and his mouth being all hot, he’d always go get a big drink of water.
I think the command we need at the moment is:
Heal!
(Perhaps Beckham would fall asleep faster to the strains of Music for Airports by Eno. I know I do.
Thinking good thoughts in the direction of Casa TBogg…
TBogg, check out this Q&A re. veterinary acupuncture, esp. w respect to spinal/vertebral problems. I have seen good results with acupuncture with my cat.

Thanks for the update on Bassett Nation, sounds like progress, even if slow.
I am available for playtime with Fenway if needed. I can still run, throw and belly rub with the best of them, so you have a standby if it comes to that.
Arthur would be very happy to foster Fenway. Explain to him about ‘ears’.
The consequences of -that- however might not be something any of us could imagine without fear….
My long-departed Irish Wolfhounds always loved Lee Oskar. Steve and Cody would come running from the furthest part of the yard to lie down in front of the stereo speakers when Sunshine Keri or I Remember Home (A Peasant’s Symphony) started up, and naptime quickly ensued.
