GWPDA @ 10

“opportunities to get something on the side”

I cannot say how angry this phrase, and the assumptions behind it, make me.

Why? Do those assumptions betray some kind of terrible, awful prejudice, like racism or sexism? What shall we call it? Politicianism?

Theodore H. White wrote his memoirs, In Search of History, in 1978. He wrote that as a journalist he had covered, up close and in depth, all the major presidential candidates of both parties back to Eisenhower. He said that those “something on the side” opportunities had always been there and that, to his personal knowledge, every single one of them had taken advantage of that fact. Well, one exception, Jimmy Carter.

So why should we be shocked, shocked about Edwards? Power, even power not yet attained, has always been the strongest aphrodisiac.

I really think a lot of MSM BS could have been avoided if Gary Hart had answered that any extramarital affairs are his and his wife’s business and not the nation’s business. Since she doesn’t have any problems there isn’t any issue.

Maybe a comment to the effect that JFK was an inspiration to him as a leader and in many other ways as well, but that’s just snarky. JFK did have the kind of MSM adoration that McSame has today, so maybe there is a little more than snark actually and that remark could stop the whole sexual political inquisition game before the MSM really started playing.

Bush would cheat on Laura but no one is interested.

The one thing Kissinger was ever right about is that “Power is an aphrodisiac.” Dubya is the one one who isn’t interested — from all evidence, he likes his women as mommy-substitutes and his men as coatholders. Even knocking up Laura without artificial assistance seems to have been too much trouble for him. His idea of a Real Good Time is a nice gym session with Miss Condi, followed by an afternoon riding his bike in the park (and EVERYBODY ELSE has to follow *behind*) or playing with Big Noisy Tools, and then off to bed at 9pm with his favorite pillow. In other words, the “leader of the free world” has the emotional maturity of your average preschooler, and we’re all living with the consequences.

The first time I have seen someone suggest that for anyone to do GW, he would have to wear a bag over his head…..

Of course, what would one expect from someone whose better half crows about his sexual prowess, milking bulls.

smilingdog said: “What about Nader?”

I was just about to have a nice breakfast, but the idea that anyone would consent to sex with Nader pretty much eliminated the nice part.
