I was leaving the house this afternoon when I discovered a somewhat large package sitting on the step addressed to Satchmo Tbogg. Inside I discovered a whole collection of doggy treats that I’m sure that Satchmo would have loved. He was a sucker for any kind of snack and would let out a big "woof" that always made his front feet lift off the ground which amused me to no end.
Of course I immediately felt guilty that these nice people had shipped something to Satchmo before… well, you know.
Anyway I wanted to thank the Coughlin family (two and four-legged) for thinking of our big dog. We will be using the treats to train Fenway because Satchmo would have wanted it that way.
No. Really. Fenway really annoyed him although Satchmo would sometimes find it in his heart to tolerate him.

Tolerance is a virtue. And sometimes you have to let sleeping dogs lie….(that’s a past tense verb, not a present tense one).
Critters are often more tolerant than people. When was the last time you saw dogs or cats invade another country?
It depends on how you define “country”. For instance, if you define “country” as, say, “a back yard”, then I saw cats invade another country – my country – just this afternoon.
Angus the Wonderhound defended his country by unleashing the mighty bark. Eventually, the feline invaders got bored with annoying my dog and left. Mission Accomplished!
I am glad that these good people brought by the votive offering to St. Satchmo. Most of us in the TBoggiverse will just have to offer virtual Milkbones to your fine hounds.
They were both of them looking mighty tolerable, that’s sure.
Training Fenway to do what?????
Talk about feeling guilty, right after the get-well package went into the mail on Monday morning I had a literal chill come over me. What if it arrives after, well, you know … or even worse; right after the Bogg family comes home from the worst vet visit one can have to find a package addressed to Satchmo at their door?
But those thought were quickly replaced. I could almost hear Satchmo saying “Thanks for thinking of me. If I’m not here when the package arrives then it’ll help to lift Beck’s and Fenway’s spirits.”
Classy to the end, that Satchmo.
Dogs sleeping in sunbeams. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Not to remove the Bassett focus, but I hope the L&TC, the collegiate of the Boggs, is off on a safe journey back to school. (Damn, still a sentence structure worthy of Immediate Deletion. Sorry, all)
The L&T Casey has made the crossing of the large water safely and is at this moment likely on the beach in Waikiki. Fist soccer meeting went well and practice begins tomorrow morning at 6:30 AM. And while I miss her terribly…it is such a joy to watch her find her way. She really is a great kid.
Woof!
I sure hope that’s a typo; fist soccer seems like something this guy would teach.
Weather report:
If she’s on the beach at Waikiki she’s seen two of the most beautiful days we’ve had in quite a while.
No, no — fist soccer would be these guys.
