I'm going down 2 alphabet street
I'm gonna crown the first girl that I meet
I'm gonna talk so sexy
She'll want me from my head 2 my feet
Let's get it started before Funk Soul Brother #1 hits the stage in Denver and all music except for funk is banned:
Alphabet St. - Prince
Stupid Thing - Aimee Mann
I Want To Help You Ann - The Lyres
You're In A Bad Way - St. Etienne
Suddenly Mary - The Posies
Tupelo Honey - Cassandra Wilson
Let's Stay Together - Al Green
Ada - The National
We're An American Band - Yo La Tengo
Siroko Lisce Borovo - Vojin Lutic (everybody sing along!)
and number eleven for all of the stereos in John McCain's houses:
Crash - The Primitives.
Weird. I put almost a thousand new songs on my iPod this week and not one of them came up. I had to go to #51 to see something new:
Le Ronde Suite - Modern Jazz Quartet. Which, for our purposes, would be #12.

Tbogg: regarding putting a buttload of new stuff on the iPod and not hearing any of it for ages, well, the iPod works in mysterious ways sometimes. I set mine for “less likely to play songs from the same folder” and in a group of five songs I’ve gotten three songs by the same band. Once I got a song by Pussy Galore, one by the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and one by Boss Hogg - all in a row. These are all in different folders but Spencer was/is in all of those bands (in that order).
Glad to see the MJQ. My favorite from them is “One Never Knows” from “No Sun in Venice.”
I played some Oscar Peterson/Count Basie piano duets with Louis Bellson on drums for a friend today.
