#1- Hell yes, this is a valid issue. If Sarah can’t control her kids, how can we expect her to control a country? Also: Choice for me but not for thee.
#2- Josh Marshall pegged it. The baby stuff is a smokescreen for the issues of criminal cativity & incompetense surrounding Sarah. The media is not crucifying her for the baby issue. The media is trying to ask questions about troopergate, bribery, kickbacks, & the bridge to nowhere, but the rethugs are playing the victim. “They’re making fun of her kids!”

There was a “David Lynch Production” quality to the affair. Like Night of the living dead using the residents of a KKK retirement home as extras. A sea of near death white men. Lots of dentures, smellovision suggests not enough Depends. The GOP seems to be well on the path to the elephants graveyard.

I am astonished that John McCain is going to let a teenage dropout lunkhead be the star of his convention. And what about all the wailing that Jamie Spears was glamorizing teen pregnancy? These two will be on the cover of every supermarket magazine next week. I’m sure Levi is being made over and worked over, but imagine what could slip out of his mouth…

I’ve talked to 3 women who aren’t political junkies but pay some attention and the Waterbreakgate story is what really sounds wacky to women who have given birth. These women think something smells to high heaven. Flying when either your water’s broken or your amniotic fluid is leaking during a high risk pregnancy just sounds extremely odd.

I’ve had calls from two smart, relatively well-informed women friends (one a registered Dem) in the 35-55 age range and all they can hear is a woman being unfairly attacked. They relate to dysfunctional family issues (don’t most of us) and are completely missing the substantive issues with Sarah Palin because they are so offended by the grilling she’s getting. It’s time to back off and let these people self-immolate.

“A woman being unfairly attacked?” Please. Tell me you’re a concern troll…. At best, Palin was chosen as a “sop” to the fundamentalist X-ians–which should insult women on both sides of the political fence equally. At worst, if McSidney’s flackspersons are to be believed, the Rethugs knew about this, and will use Palin’s inevitable forced resignation to appoint some smarmy, non-fundie MALE as VP apparent who ordinarily wouldn’t have stood a chance with the fundies–like, say, “Ho-Joe” Lieberman or Mitt Romney.

Obama hasn’t said word one about Palin or her daughter. Your female friends need a reality check; this is politics, not a beauty pageant. After the 2004 attacks on Kerry, the conservatives have no room to talk about “unfair attacks” on anyone. Allowing these people to self-immolate would be almost un-American!

I wonder what the pay-off is for young Levi? This self described fucking redneck made it pretty clear he’s a drill anywhere/no kids kind of guy. I’m thinking he’s got a pretty nifty windfall coming his way….but the kicker is going to be “just play along for the next few weeks Levi, Bristol will have her miscarriage, then you won’t have to get married. Just recite the blessings of good Republican morality and keep smiling for the cameras.”
