In daylight, she looked desperate
That’s all right, I was desperate, too
I’m getting pretty sick of this interview.

- The Hold Steady Sequestered In Memphis
Joe Biden is accusing the McCain campaign of sequestering Sarah Palin, his counterpart on the Republican ticket, and challenged her Sunday to sit for network interviews.
“She’s a smart, tough politician,” Biden told Tom Brokaw in a “Meet the Press” interview live from Wilmington, Del. “So I think she’s going to be formidable. Eventually, she’s going to have to sit in front of you like I’m doing and have done. Eventually, she’s going to have to answer questions and not be sequestered. Eventually, she’s going to have to answer on the record.”
But not if everybody is gonna be all mean and stuff to her:
Rick Davis, campaign manager for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., just told Fox News Channel’s Chris Wallace that McCain running mate Gov. Sarah Palin won’t subject herself to any tough questions from reporters "until the point in time when she’ll be treated with respect and deference."
Davis assailed the way the media had discussed Palin and her family in the last week and said the campaign would wait until a less hostile media environment.
So when will she subject herself to questions?
"When we think it’s time and when she feels comfortable doing it," Davis said, praising a Fox News Channel profile of Palin that ran last night.
Why is she scared of answering questions? Wallace asked.
"She’s not scared to answer questions," Davis said, "but you know what? We run our campaign not the news media."
History repeats itself in a distaff way.
Dan Quayle was an empty suit.
Sarah Palin is a stuffed bra.

To think Repubs have spent the last two years deriding the Dem nominee as a “one speech wonder,” and now put all their hopes and dreams into a vacuous VP candidate who read a speech written for her on a teleprompter. And to think about a week ago hardly any of them even heard of Sarah Flailin!
The blissful world of the Repub mind.
She’s cramming for finals.
If the Dems don’t raise a stink about this, I will scream. I hope Hillary has something to say about it. I’d like to hear her tear Palin a new one.
A campaign strategist turning down FREE TV EXPOSURE for his candidate? Well, that’s as good as an admission that the candidate and/or her views are irrelevant. From this point forward, the MSM would be perfectly justified in ignoring Palin. After all, why waste time catering to a political dilettante with a prima dona attitude?
Ya know, the more I hear about this, the more inexplicable and pathetic it becomes. As voters we’ll be Palin’s bosses, we have every right to ask her questions about her (padded) resume. I’ve seen a tougher stance taken with 16 year olds applying for their first job at Mickey D’s.
All politicians want deferential treatment from the media, but Rick Davis actually says it out loud.
It would be nice if Obama said that he just went into the openly hostile environment of Bill O’Reilly’s show — but Sarah Palin won’t go anywhere unless she’s treated with “deference,” as if she’s the Queen.
I wonder how useful a Hillary “on the loose” strategy would be considering how much the Clinton name has been vilified in Repub circle jerks. To have a Clinton out attacking the poor wittle Wingnut Saviour would really whip up some Repub lather.
Haven’t really seen much evidence that the PUMA dealio is realio, so I doubt that many have left the Dem column for Ms. Abstinence.
Of course, maybe Hillary being an established name would help some fence-sitters feel more at ease with Obama than a Paleo/Pailin ticket. Not sure…
Wow, the arrogance of Rick Davis is breathtaking. If the MSM doesn’t go after McBush and Caribou Barbie like rabid dogs on this, then they are even more lame than I thought (which is impossible).
I saw Senators Barbara Boxer and Kay Baily Hutchinson this morn with Wolf Blitzer debating whether the Moosewoman should be out there. Boxer was like a pit bull on the subject, and Kay Baily was having a real tough time holding up her side. Wolf was siding with Boxer.
Corporate owners aside, I don’t think these individual reporters/talking heads/general MSM asswipes like being pushed around like this. This may very well backfire on Rove and the McSame campaign. Please Gawd, let it backfire.
Great Hold Steady reference, tbogg. I’ve listened to that song 30 times and that analogy never struck me.
I guess that’s why I’m where I am and you’re where you are.
Clinton and other female Dems have to get out there and speak to her supporters, explaining just why Sarah Palin is the antithesis of Hillary.
It’s arrogance born of desperation. When Josh Marshall reported that the King Interview with McCain was canceled because they couldn’t craft focus group approved answers about her for McCain, I knew they were in a world of hurt. I think her lack of knowledge outside social conservatism is inifinite. And I doubt she will be safe for general consumption before the election.
If they allow her to attend the debate, look for a bizarro four or five scripted answer Palin ignoring the questions and Biden to spew two minute commercials.
Cue PUMA concern trolls: “a stuffed bra.” That’s *so* sexist… my God, where’s this country going? I think I may just have to vote for her and her misogynist running mate — to show those nasty liberals a thing or two about how to treat a lady.
Actually her breasts have that post-partum bounce.
Palin is a redneck without the twang. “Let’s get crackin’.”
That’s Just What I Said
Palin is a redneck without the twang.
Obama has been accused of looking up too much. McCain’s problem is avoiding looking down when the Palin cleavage is calling him like God called Son of Sam.
That’s Just What I Said
Deference? Did I read that right? Deference!?
This is fucking AMERICA, we better not defer to anyone, particularly not some citizen running for president. Prove yourself or get the hell out.
Anyone who asks for deference gets no respect.
It’s ironic that she resembles Tina Fey because they all but admit that she’s not ready for prime time.
As soon as she gets Joe Lieberman stuffed into her bra, she’ll be ready.
“She’s not scared to answer questions,” Davis said, “but you know what? We run our campaign
notAND the news media.”Fixed. What he really said.
Also, it seem that Wallace was pouting. “After all those years of eating your shit, you tell me I can’t have access? WTF?!?”
Shorter Rick Davis: “Leave Sarah Palin aloooooooooooooooonnnnnne!!!!!!”
Is Sarah Palin waiting for the swimsuit competition? I understand they have this spray-on adhesive now that keeps the suit from riding up one’s butt cheeks…
