Oh sure, it’s not as entertaining as watching Campbell Brown make Tucker Bounds her bitch:
….but the McPalin campaign has some of the worst spokespeople ever:
Gov. Palin, who John McCain named as his running mate less than two weeks ago, quickly adopted a stump line bragging about her opposition to the pork-barrel project Sen. McCain routinely decries.
But Gov. Palin’s claim comes with a serious caveat. She endorsed the multimillion dollar project during her gubernatorial race in 2006. And while she did take part in stopping the project after it became a national scandal, she did not return the federal money. She just allocated it elsewhere.
[...]
On Monday in Missouri, Gov. Palin put it this way: "I told Congress thanks but no thanks for that bridge to nowhere. If the state wanted to build a bridge we would built it ourselves."
Senior adviser Mark Salter pointed to her role in killing the project while in office and allocating the money elsewhere. When pressed further that it was actually Congress that stopped the earmark, Mr. Salter said: "She stopped it, too. She did her part." Mr. Salter added that he welcomed a fight over earmarks with the Obama campaign.
[...]
As such, Gov. Palin’s image as a "reformer" is part of the storyline the McCain campaign needs to complement the top of its ticket. Her quip about passing on the bridge and "building it ourselves" has been a staple of her stump.
But she’s drawn considerable fire as result. Sen. Obama’s campaign released an advertisement3 pointing out her original support of the bridge. And on Monday, an Obama staffer emailed a photo of Gov. Palin holding up a T-shirt that was made shortly after the bridge caught national attention. It reads "NOWHERE ALASKA" and "99901," the zip code of Ketchikan.
The McCain campaign jumped back with spokesman Brian Rogers calling the attacks "hysterical."
"The only people ‘lying’ about spending are the Obama campaign. The only explanation for their hysterical attacks is that they’re afraid that when John McCain and Sarah Palin are in the White House, Barack Obama’s nearly $1 billion in earmark spending will stop dead in its tracks," Mr. Rogers said.
I’m not Frank Luntz, so I’m not too sure if the "I know you are but what am I?" defense is really going to resonate with anyone outside of the key "four years-old and recently potty-trained" demographic.

I am surprised that the authoritarians haven’t spent any time developing some bench strength, but I guess the sweet sweet corruption has depleted their ranks. McSame and Mommy Wolf-killer, scourge of the tundra, are the best they could come up with?
How can you believe anything in that pinko liberal rag, The Wall Street Journal?
Meanwhile, in other news, 48 percent or so of Americans apparently have no appreciation of the profound cognitive dissonance between struggling to get by while fervently supporting the POW/Caribarbie ticket. It’s like they *want* to continue hurting?!? What on earth is so appealing about the Senile/Ignorant combo?
She-Wolf of the GOP can’t spin her way out of this one. Alaska is the biggest federal welfare state in the country, even after she forced more money out of the oil companies.
“forced more money out of the oil companies” — that’s a bit like being proud you got your pimp to give you a bigger allowance in return for your not complaining about the weekly beatings.
Tucker Bounds never got through a lunch period unscathed, did he?
Give that fool a bow tie and you got a pile o’ classic.
Yes but how will the flock of Sheep(voters) get that message when she won’t do an interview, or the campaign will not tell the truth.
Watch what happens at the “debate”. She will not address anything from Biden or the moderators that is not on 3 3X5 cards. Just parrot generic radio commercials.
What on earth is so appealing about the Senile/Ignorant combo?
Now thingwarbler I think you know the answer to that. The right-wing nuttery wants someone in the White House that they can identify with. Someone that is just as senile and/or ignorant as they are. They’re threatened by someone that appears to have more book learnin’ than they do. See Gore, Kerry, Obama…
I, on the other hand, prefer the Leader of the free world to be a hell of a lot smarter than I ever dreamed of. Now who should be allowed to choose said Leader? Once again, I’m advocating testing for voting privileges. You gotta take a test to get citizenship, to get a driver’s license, so why not a test to vote?
Of course, somehow the test would end up being compiled by the wingnuts, and would consist of questions on Conservative Principles as articulated by Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter.
It’s very simple. These people view truth as relative, morality as not.
McSame got the nomination by default. He snuck in after the others were eliminated. They all had something about them that even the rethuglican base couldn’t stomache.
Huckabee – too christocrazy for the big buisness wing.
Romney – wrong flavor christocrazy.
Guiliani – one note wonder, waayyy too liberal.
Thompson – empty suit, doa, zzz…
Ron Paul – libertarian. Has crazy social ideas (against the war), even though he is allied with the KKK.
Tancredo – never really wanted the nomination, just wanted to build a wall.
Hate to break it to ya, but “four years old and recently potty-trained” is an excellent description of the mentality of the average American voter.
On the plus side, I notice no mention of the latest polls this morning (McCain’s bounce must be dropping off–remember how even when Obama led by 8 points, it was “just a bounce and shrinking”?) and sulky acknowledgemnt of Iraq status quo and burgeoning deficit.
Oh yes, and Michelle Obama dancing on Ellen. Cause sadly, this is a GOOD day for us in the MSM.
Oh, P.S. Apparently McGrampy and Caribou Barbie want to reform Fannie Mae. How exactly do they plan on doing that when they don’t what it is, what it does, or hwo it’s structured?
Oh, yeah, I know how we got here, but you’d think a party that expects to be taken seriously would be able to identify good candidates, not just let the Usual Egotists go after it, especially given the top-down style they use.
The McPalin-Bush campaign is so bad, the GOP/Media Complex has to fudge the polls to make them look good.
The Big Three polls are now suddenly oversampling Republicans even as Democratic registrations go through the roof:

The new poll from Investor’s Business Daily (as conservative as it gets) that shows Obama up 45-40 would seem to lend some support to this:

Two of them admitted heavy weighting to seniors, who tilt towards the calcified one. And the under weigh the 18-24, and under adjust for cell only. Besides that, they are science in action.
