Chris Matthews lets Nancy Pfotenhauer run her mouth about the McCain approved "fundamentally sound" crashing economy that was precipitated by a mortgage industry runamuck
Who is Nancy Pfotenhauer? I’m glad you asked:
After graduating with a master’s in economics from George Mason University (funded by Koch) in the late 1980s, Pfotenhauer became the “chief economist” at the Republican National Committee before the age of 24. She then worked for George H.W. Bush’s transition team and Sen. William Armstrong (R-CO), and was then appointed to be “chief economist of the President’s Council on Competitiveness,” Dan Quayle’s secretive anti-environmental project.
During the Clinton years, she rejoined the Koch Industries machine as “executive vice president for policy” of the Koch front group Citizens for a Sound Economy. With her then-husband Daniel Mitchell, a Heritage Foundation economist, she co-hosted the call-in show “Mitchells in the Morning” on National Empowerment Television, run by Heritage Foundation founder Paul Weyrich. From 1996 to 2001, she was the top lobbyist for Koch Industries.
While working for Koch, she divorced Mitchell and married Gordon Smith’s (R-OR)’s chief of staff Kurt Pfotenhauer, now a top mortgage-industry lobbyist. In 2001 she was named president of another Koch front group, the anti-feminist Independent Women’s Forum (IWF). In 2003 she also became president of Americans for Prosperity (originally CSE), until joining the McCain campaign in 2007.
As for her husband, well, as a lobbyist for the mortgage industry he once said, :
“There are always a few who will deliberately go out and try to deceive, The industry is fundamentally honest and is trying to offer a product that’s good and useful to borrowers who are asking for it.”
I can see how they like the word even though they don’t seem to know what it means…

Matthews is truly too stupid to have these con artists on his show. His producers book all these nefarious creatures knowing that they’ll blather and he’ll sit there quietly because he’s intimidated and impressed by whatever combination of letters follow their name from various college degrees or from whatever impresses him about their resume’ and or affiliations.
Imagine the brains you’d have to have to achieve the title of “chief economist” before the age of 24 for one of the most powerful national political parties in the US. Oh wait…
When Sarah Palin was announced as the Veep pick, Nancy Pfffft was caught in the headlights. She had absolutely no idea who she was. If I knew which program she was on, I’d link it; suffice it to say, she looked as though someone had removed the top of her head and scooped out all her brains with a teaspoon.
Pfft also served time at the so-called Independent Women’s Forum, who use snazzy graphics to surround their articles about how all women really need is a wealthy husband (which many of the IWF heavies have, I note). I won’t soon forget their dismissive non-response to the passage of the Violence Against Women Act (authored by Joe Biden) in the mid-’90s. There’s no such thing as sexual harassment, after all, or rape…
…So, after eight years of these lightweight losers running roughshod over everything we used to hold dear, weren’t Americans supposed to be fed up and want change?
I mean, Pfotenhooey is Doug Feith is Katherine Harris is Monica Goodling is Heckuvajob Brownie is just another completely incompetent ideological hack elevated to some ridiculous position of supposed authority by a) cynical whackjobs like Krusty McSane, whose latent PTSD from his time as a POW clearly clouds his decision making at times (“yeah, a venomous bitch with a penchant for killing moose and poppin’ babies — there’s my VP, right there. Okay, who do we hire next?”), and b) incompetent boobs like Matthews who, as xpurg8d says, apparently doesn’t have the journalistic integrity or can’t be bothered to to look past the alphabet soup of fake credentials and challenge the snake oil salesmen that appear on his show. But haven’t we learned anything at all from eight years of this already?
Gee. You’d think that capitalism would “fundamentals” of our economy. To say that the “fundamentals” are strong, that it’s Wall Street that has failed us, is like saying that McDonald’s still makes great hamburgers, it’s only the meat that’s rancid.
How embarrassing can it be for Tweety when even the Fox news talent is more clueful than he is? But I forget myself: after the past few years, some of these people are beyond embarrassment.
For the Republicans, Lying is FUNdamental.
No! No! No! You silly boy! They are Republicans, so the words mean exactly what they say they do.
To think, not long after this campaign is over, a whole new batch of McCain’s rightwing campaign flunkies will descend to the ranks of the media. Writing op-eds, doing radio shows and becoming analysts on network and cable t.v.
Is anyone else dreading the new MSNBC show: The Nancy Pfotenhauer Hour?

So…according to IWF all independent women need is a rich husband? No wonder the repugs doublespeak, that’s all they know and how they understand each other. For the rest of us it makes our heads explode.
Of course, she’s gotten to be independent by having someone pay her way through school and then give her a succession of wingnut welfare jobs and then she got TWO rich husbands. (Bonus!)
See? Anyone can be successful. Why are all you other people out there complaining and have a hard time? Just do what I did. (It’s called being a whore, Nance, but oookay).
Ack! Pfotenhauer, a German noun, translates as “paw cutter”.
I don’t think it’s fair to say she’s had two rich husbands.
I knew Nancy and Dan back in our undergraduate days at the University of Georgia and only discovered a few days ago that this was the same Nancy. Dan was a New England blueblood as I recall (he acted like it at any rate), but I don’t think he came from serious money. And while wingnut welfare can be pretty generous, I don’t get the impression that Heritage or their little cable show had them rolling in the dough.
What’s odd to me is that she doesn’t use her maiden name at all, using Nancy Mitchell Pfotenhauer. I guess it’s a way of hanging on to the identity and recognition she built up with Dan back in the ’90s.
Oh comely Pfotenhauer
Young darling of the Right,
You’ve spent most of an hour
In a one-sided fight
With Matthews, king of cable,
On MSNBC
You lied when you were able
‘Twas clear for all to see.
The blame lies with your Party
For Lehman’s quick demise
Your evasions were tarty
And fear was in your eyes.
McCain’s George Bush’s brother
Completely in his thrall,
Thanks for deregulation
Thanks for the market’s fall.
Wahoo! It’s “bounty paw” time. Everything Republican is better in the orginal German.

I bet she gets her thigh-high black leather stilletto-heeled boots from Condi. I heard she’s good with a whip.
golly, that little tidbit seems newsworthy these days….
Hey. Why would any woman esp a compassionate conservative be actively beating down a DV bill? oh. never mind.
