I received an e-mail from my small-town/proud redneck/wingnut sister a couple of weeks ago that went on for many paragraphs explaining how Obama’s people (Muslims) were actually the slave owners and that’s why it’s completely incorrect to call him an African-American because that term is exclusively for those people who actually came from those who were enslaved here by whites. I kid you not.

She gets all this crap from some bunch of friends who are on the Super Best White People Hard-workin’ Bootstrap Get Them Darkies Outta My Town mailing lists and still occasionally slips up and fouls my inbox with it. I reward her with even longer responses refuting each and every sentence in the forwarded screed, with footnotes, so I don’t get many of them any more.

She gets all this crap from some bunch of friends who are on the Super Best White People Hard-workin’ Bootstrap Get Them Darkies Outta My Town mailing lists and still occasionally slips up and fouls my inbox with it.
