Here comes Flailin' Palin:
Couric Why, in your view, is Roe v. Wade a bad decision?
Sarah Palin: I think it should be a states' issue not a federal government-mandated, mandating yes or no on such an important issue. I'm, in that sense, a federalist, where I believe that states should have more say in the laws of their lands and individual areas. Now, foundationally, also, though, it's no secret that I'm pro-life that I believe in a culture of life is very important for this country. Personally that's what I would like to see, um, further embraced by America.
Couric: Do you think there's an inherent right to privacy in the Constitution?
Palin: I do. Yeah, I do.
Couric: The cornerstone of Roe v. Wade.
Palin: I do. And I believe that individual states can best handle what the people within the different constituencies in the 50 states would like to see their will ushered in an issue like that.
Couric: What other Supreme Court decisions do you disagree with?
Palin: Well, let's see. There's, of course in the great history of America there have been rulings, that's never going to be absolute consensus by every American. And there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but …
Couric: Can you think of any?
Palin: Well, I could think of … any again, that could be best dealt with on a more local level. Maybe I would take issue with. But, you know, as mayor, and then as governor and even as a vice president, if I'm so privileged to serve, wouldn't be in a position of changing those things but in supporting the law of the land as it reads today.
That is just a mobius strip of stupid.
Now go read Joe Biden's answers at the same link. I can only hope that Biden can refrain himself at the debate from telling Palin to not go full retard. Please. Not in front of the children.
Personally, I don't have that sense of self control.
(Update)
As bad as the above reads, it's worse when you watch the video:
All snark aside, Sarah Palin is so stupid, I think even Dick Cheney will vote against her. Seriously, this person as Vice President? Cheney may be evil, but he's not suicidal.
If you were at a party and someone was babbling on and on like this you would either:
a) move to another part of the room and drink heavily.
b) go get your friends and tell them, "C'mere, you gotta hear this idiot."

Actually, the big surprise was not that Palin was so stupid–though this eclipsed even her previous standard–but how damned, damned, damned good Biden was. G-d bless him.
aimai
The fundamentals are not strong with McCain/Palin.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXFo1bte4nc
There is an awful lot of concentrated stupid and ignorant in that clip.
What a contrast with Biden.
TBogg:
Palin’s got her head so far up her ass, she’s a human Klein Bottle.
Katie Couric, I love you.
You have redeemed yourself.
I can only hope that Biden can refrain himself at the debate from telling Palin to not go full retard.
If Biden manages to keep a poker face during the debate, he is a lot tougher than I am.
A little advice Joe: When Mooselini is talking, play statue. They can’t criticize you if you just turn to stone.
Good luck Joe.
I *love* how these interview sessions have become the equivalent of freebasing stand-up comedy raw material: completely addictive, with each hit requiring a subsequently greater dose of teh dumb. So far, Sarah & Katie have delivered like a true dealer.
If and when the VP gig falls thru, I think Sarah should think about going back to a career on the screen — should they need someone to play the part of Terry Schiavo in a docu-drama she would appear to have about the required IQ…
Ummm, I’m no Constitutional Law professor, but wouldn’t a “in a sense Federalist” work against states rights and for a strong central government?
Mooselini? She’s “little moose”? I can live with that, but the moose might be offended.
I think a certain Perfessor might disagree with your view of Federalism…
I’m, in that sense, a federalist, where I believe that states should have more say in the laws of their lands and individual areas.
A stunningly perfect example of teh stupid that was wasted on Katy Couric.
A federalist is someone who advocates a federal system of governing. So uh, yeah.
Katy could have seized on it and she didn’t - it either escaped her notice or she was feeling pity for the village idiot.
Palin’s “yeah” responses only enhance her lack of professionalism. Amid the perpetual thoughtlessness and ignorance this is minor, but it galls nonetheless. bitchslap her for being a social as well as intellectual retard. This woman needs a good bitchslapping and the only good one I can think of is McCain firing her from the opportunity.
I’m, in that sense, a federalist, where I believe that states should have more say in the laws of their lands and individual areas.
To quote Charlie Brown ….. AAAAAUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH ….
Jesus fucking christ floating on a piece of driftwood. If this isn’t a damning verdict on the state of public schools then nothing can damn them.
You fucking moron. I bet she believes Alexander Hamilton invented blenders.
Speaking of Biden and how he’s gonna behave in a debate with this assclown. It would be to his party’s advantage if he keeps his face straight, serious and neutral. Any condescending smirks in her direction, however well deserved they may be, will garner her sympathy.
He’s got to pretend and respond as if she’s a contender. Treat her as the equal she claims she is, Joe, and let her hang herself. (And when she’s choking to death at the podium, try not to smile…)
Ho-Kay - She believes there’s an inherent right of privacy but that the states can tell folks what to do with their private lives.
Got it.
Actually. No. I don’t got it. That fits the definition of some truly convoluted gibberish and makes zero sense.
“That is just a mobius strip of stupid.”
Ha. Think Progess had a post the other day about a conversation between Glenn Beck and Jonah Goldberg, and that exact phrase popped into my head - an endless loop of idiocy that feeds on itself.
Watertiger’s got a pic of Myth Alaska with her handlers at the GOP Debate Camp: http://www.dependablerenegade......#comments.
I don’t think it’s going well.
Fer shure Sarah’s gonna blow tomorrow. She’s done it before:

PHFFTT! That one needs a warning. Traitor Joe must be adjusting the bearings again.
http://www.crooksandliars.com/.....-bearings/
Palin - Row v. Wade. Ya, that should definitely be left up to the states. Like in Alaska, when we see Putin’s shadow on the Bering Strait we have to decide if we’re going to Row across to Russia or Wade to it.
Couric - Let me give you a lifeline.
This is the funniest thing I’ve seen all year: John McCain Gets BarackRoll’d.
McCain’s expressions are priceless.
If you haven’t seen the full clip with Biden’s responses to the same questions shown just before Palin’s… er, answer, I encourage you to do so here. The full context makes it way, way worse.
One day someone will unzip the Palin suit and climb out, and then we’ll all get a big laugh out of whoever it was making fools of everyone. But I’m not sure it’s fair to ridicule her on federalism. It’s not as clear-cut as all that.
“But I’m not sure it’s fair to ridicule her on federalism. It’s not as clear-cut as all that.” She certainly did her best to make it sound that way… before she botched any and all definitions by trying to cut it both ways *and* hedge her bet, all in the same sentence. Quite an accomplishment. I’m sure it played well with the sophisticated powersled crowd back home.
That whirring sound? All the Founding Fathers rotating in their graves…
I love Joe Biden more every day.
Btw, it’s only appropriate that Bill Kristol should be forced to stand next to “the federalist” at the VP debate wearing a sandwich board that says “I recommended her” on it.
(I bet before she got the call from McCain she never called or thought of herself a federalist. She’s equating being a VP with being a federalist (I’m guessing).
“But I’m not sure it’s fair to ridicule her on federalism. It’s not as clear-cut as all that.”
Yes, yes it is fair and clear cut, actually.
About the debate tomorrow night. Olbermann showed some “impressive” clips from her gubernatorial run (and even pretended to be impressed), they ranged from jr high mean girl smirky while answering an unspeakably stupid and pointless question to rambling, inane, BORING non-sequitors, complete with folksy, hayseed “charm”.
Caribou was much touted as quite experienced and able with handling the press, as well. Once again, just because it played in the sticks doesn’t mean we’ll dig it here.
And for us evil, urban dwelling, liberal elite that she and Krusty so readily dismiss, we vote, too!
You’d think (as they’re trying to distance themselves from him) she could have at least come up with Bush v. Gore.
“Cheney may be evil, but he’s not suicidal.”
Yep. I gotta hand it ter ole Sarry…….never, prior to the last 32 days, would I have dreamed of turning down a bet against my ever uttering a sentence that contained the words “at least” and “Dick Cheney.”
You see, I regard Dick Cheney as The Antichrist. Really. I’ve got the Bible passages all marked and everything.
But now…..NOW……I open my mouth….the words burst forth…..and I am powerless to stop them.
“Dick Cheney may be the Antichrist……but at least he’s not THIS FUCKING STUPID!!”
How did that go again? AAAAUUUUUGGH………
This has to be a brilliantly-conceived piece of performance art. Right???
She isn’t Joe SixPack, she’s Sarah HalfWit.
She thinks this Miss Pageant thing actually works on people, and is rather surprised(and scared)that it’s not going over. ALL of her answers are that perky(barf)pageant non-answer,she literally cannot do anything else.
I didn’t notice the first time I saw it, but it sounds like she wants to get rid of the Supreme Court altogether.
Mom Anon,
A commenter over at Digby’s place sezs: “She really is like a high school kid trying to BS her way thru a book report”.
I think the two of you have nailed it.
The definition of federalism has changed over the course of the country’s history. Reagan was considered a federalist. That might have changed the way people thought of “federalism” but that’s the way language goes.
It isn’t stupidity. Or, it isn’t only stupidity. There is at least one Supreme Court ruling she disagrees with; the Exxon Valdez one. She issued a statement decrying it when it came out. So my idea is that she is paranoid with respect to media figures and her strategy is not to give them anything. So rather than just answer the question, she filibustered her way through it. I also feel like part of what happens is that she’s scared to pause for a second and gather her thoughts, and scared to stop talking once she’s started. So that’s why we get these word torrents; rather than pause for a second and organize a thought, she just keeps going.
More like: “Hey, take all the rope you want! Plenty more where that came from.”
No, she really IS that stupid. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to later learn that a staffer drafted her response about Exxon and she’s completely unaware. She takes plenty of pauses, we’ve already seen it–along with lots of “ums”.
I’m surprised that she used the word Federalist properly.
The funniest thing I’ve seen today is that re-elect Senator Lindsay Graham ad.
What, is the Daily Worker not accepting new ads?
o my god…
Uh-oh. Looks like they’ve been fillin’ the daughter’s head with a bunch o’ learnin’, Tbogg.
A kid Casey’s age should just be so happy to get to vote for a woman, any woman will do, that she doesn’t actually hear the words that come out when said woman moves her lips.
Be warned. You turned a smart one out to the World, and everyone will know that you and Mrs. Tbogg are the ones that did it.
