Easy there, our brethren on the right were saying similar things not so long ago. Given the Democratic Party’s well documented ability to screw-the-pooch, I think a timely reminder to “not get cocky” is in order.

That was their one remaining strength, wasn’t it? While their ideology was proven wrong time and again and their house of cards wobbled ever more, they could still circle the wagons and maintain an awe-inspiring internal discipline (viz the unwavering party line votes in Congress when it really mattered). Dissenters knew to shut up if only for the good of the party and the movement. But now? Behold: infighting, defections, confusion, contradictions, and wonderful, utter chaos in their ranks. Yum.
