I see I’m not the only one who gagged on the “affectionately” meme.

I suspect Joe the Plumber is experiencing what so many people have when they’ve opted to engage in promiscuous behavior and fib a bit (he actually said to Obama “I’m about to buy this business…”) and then find the girl he woke up with is going through his suitcase and finding pictures of his wife back home. You play, you pay. Hope his 15 minutes is worth it to him.

And he has John McCain to thank.

Well, “Joe the Plumber” is shorter than “Joe the Unlicensed Plumber Who Says His Boss Has a License, Who Has a Lien on His Property from Non-Payment of Taxes, Who Admits That He’d Get a Tax Break Under Obama’s Plan, and Who Initially Registered to Vote as a Member of the Wacko Natural Law Party.” Much shorter!

After buttfucking the average American in every possible way the Republicans drag out two Potemkin Villagers; Joe the Plumber, and Sarah Palin, to show their deep respect and concern for the man in the street. That both are frauds is no accident: the GOP holds on to a caricature of the electorate that paints it as stupid, fearful and uninformed. Bush did his best to stoke the first two, the latter is just a gift. Conditioning voters to vote their fears works well until they find voting for you more frightening than voting against you.
