My wife and I voted by absentee ballot-I have heard way to many horror stories about the touch screen voting machines here in Tx to ever trust them again-way back in the first week of Oct. I pity the states that only vote on nov 4. Something like 32 states have early voting. Personally, I think that the entire country should follow the Or. vote by mail idea. I believe that overall you would get lots more people voting. Example, horrid variety; last spring(may) we had a local school board vote. Less than 3% of registered voters, voted. 3 months later when that school board voted to close several school due to declining enrollment, thousands came out to protest. Oh yeah, we also have a continuing 30% annual drop out rate. WTF is this country coming to? 120 years ago a HS diploma ment something and a HS graduate actually knew important things about the US and the world. Civics,gone-geography, gone-govt-,gone-history, american and world, gone. Back when I was in the 8th grade(1961) we had 1 semester of Russian History, can you imagine any other school at that time teaching Russian History? Any public schools teaching Chinese history? How about Chinese culture? Language? Hello!! Knock Knock!! Our schools suck! I don’t believe that any HS grad in the entire US could pass a test from the HSs of 120 years ago. They taught Latin, spelling, writing, english, composition, geography, math. None of these things are being taught now. You can take a calculator to a math test! What on earth does that do, other than teaching a person how to punch a button. Can they do the math without a calculator? Can they do research without a computer? Can they write a paragraph by hand without spelling errors? Deportment anyone? The american century is over, like the decline and fall of the roman empire, the US is now in decline and heading for the final fall. Crap! I feel like I am shouting at a brick wall. Not only do parents not understand, they just don’t freekin care.(BTW, my wife and I raised 4 kids. The ave size of their HS classes(total grads) was 30. Student/teacher ratio was 3 to 1. My kids did learn all the things that any student of 100 years ago would have understood. My youngest is still in University, but like the other 3 she skipped a year and will get her Masters in Computer Science witha double in Math in 4.5 years. My other 3 kids all got advanced degrees in hard science in less than 6 years. They all stated that the first year was pretty much a waste of time, so they all just took the end of course tests and passed easily. There are public schools out there-like the one my kids went to, high tax base, few students-but they are very few and far between.

I can’t answer your question, but vicious-with-a-smile is their stock in trade. There are times when I would loooove to just slap Dana Perino’s smirking little face.

Is it me or do the women GOP spokespersons seem generally nastier than their male counterparts? I marvel at how vicious some of these women are as they lie and smear while managing to keep their smiles turned on. The spokesmen at least seem to have reached the conclusion that this is a hopeless task and don’t seem to take their jobs as designated liars nearly as seriously as the women that get trotted out

She kept insisting that there was more to the call. Something about meeting without pre-conditions and other oft repeated talking points. She was incorrect. For the record, below is the transcript of the entire call.

“Hello. I’m calling for John McCain and the RNC because you need to know that Barack Obama has worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, whose organization bombed the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon, a judge’s home and killed Americans. And Democrats will enact an extreme leftist agenda if they take control of Washington. Barack Obama and his Democratic allies lack the judgment to lead our country. This call was paid for by McCain-Palin 2008 and the Republican National Committee at 202-863-8500.”

Plausable deniability got her through the moment and she handled the whole thing pretty smoothly. Not bad for a McCain spokes-liar. Considering what she has to work with. Do I believe she didn’t know about the Annenburgs? Nah.

I can’t believe she’d never heard about the Annenberg issue. Ironic in light of her, “I don’t know if any of you were paying attention to what John McCain was saying in Florida today…” I guess it’s only the rest of us who have to pay attention.

Epic fail. Once again.

The good news, though, is that the anchor brought it up. That was a surprise, and I loved how idiotic she looked (No, Lisa, you may not phone a friend), and how she tried to play the victim like he just sprung it on her. Um, everyone I know is aware of the Annenberg connection. You know, regular people who aren’t paid to know these things. Obviously the anchor would assume she knew about it, and not have to prep her before hand. Pathetic.
