When I read to him the results of an online poll debating whether Sarah Palin had had permanent lip-liner tattooed on (her sister-in-law owns a beauty parlor where it’s done), first I had to explain what “permanent lip-liner” was, wait for his wails of shock and outrage to subside, and only then could I tell him that the majority of the women surveyed believed that yes, she’d gotten her lips tattooed.
