Shorter Bill Kristol:
John McCain should keep doing all of the things that he has been doing for the past few weeks… but this time he should really really mean it.
Bonus real Kristol:
Next Sunday, McCain and Palin could divide up the talk shows. Sarah Palin live! Lots of people would tune in.
…for the same reason that the ratings are so high for the first few episodes of American Idol.

For a long time now, I have gotten by not reading Kristol because others were doing so for me. This time the tboggian (the ‘t’ is silent) commentary was too skinny, so I read Kristol in virgin pixels.
I learned about a new (to me) way that conservatives can, will, and do forever maintain victimhood: “the naysayers will once again be proved wrong.”
Thanks, Bill. Thanks, Tbogg.
I suddenly very tired. Excuse me.
Same here. Tbogg’s shorter was spot on, and I’d highly recommend that other readers spare their eyes. Kristol is basically advising McCain to hit harder on 9/11, teh Surge and his military record (Hey guys, did you know he was a POW? It’s true!) because those things were working so well when he was using them back in August. He wants McCain to run the same way that Bush did back in ‘04. Oh, he also wants Palin to go solo on the talk show circuit. *eyeroll*
I really love how every right-wing pundit is convinced that if McCain just changed one little thing in his campaign – if he emphasized terror, or abortion, or how Obama is a radical socialist neo-Marxist Muslim black supremacist fascist, he’ll immediately close the gap in the polls, shoot past Obama and win in a landslide. As if McCain’s lousy campaign could be traced back to one problem…
“…As if McCain’s lousy campaign could be traced back to one problem…”
Sure it can. Republicanism.
If McCain does something really mavericky; fire Palin from the ticket, run *without* a VP, and remove himself from the GOP by standing up in front of the country and saying “I AM NO LONGER A REPUBLICAN. REPUBLICANS ARE LIARS AND CROOKS AND PERVERTS. THEY’RE STUPID, and their mom dresses them funny…and..and..and..”
Hmm…no that probably won’t work.
How about if McCain changes his party affiliation to Democratic, THEN goes in front of a judge and changes his name to “Barack Hussein Obama”? Would that work?
Ok, never mind. He’s toast.
“Captain Kristol! Iceberg directly ahead!”
“All engines ahead, FLANK!, We teach that commie berg!”
Well, if anyone is up to stupid and futile gestures, it is Bloody Billy KKKristol. I really hope that McCain takes his advice. Given KKKristol’s unbroken record of being disastrously wrong about everything, it should double or triple Obama’s margin of victory.
Draft-dodging Bill beat two war heroes, and draft-dodging W beat one, so by all means keep repeating the POW shit.
I never get tired of that photo.
Conservative and progressive commenters both love to kibbitz (teh underticket @ Kos is usually breathless and breathtaking – says I who never diaries…) The difference this election is that our guy is smarter about strategy and cooler of head than anybody – poker anyone? – so *our* advice is harmless chintering, while their guy and his minions are so all over the map that even Kristol looks like he’s offering sensible, settling advice.
I went to read Bill Kristol (which I never do, but was curious) and then I read the responses posted there. There were 585 responses, and there was a notice up that no further responses would be accepted. Out of curiosity, I went through the responses. I figured Kristol would have a conservative readership. Anyway. Out of 585 responses, six supported McCain. There was one that sounded like it might be meant to, but it was just a sentance fragment and made no sense. All the other posts were pointing out to Kristol that he’s an idiot.
How long can he keep his job, do you suppose?
Sadly for us, Billy fills the “blithering idiot” quota at the Times. They used to depend on Adam Nagourney for that, but he could not be as consistently, staggeringly wrong as Kristol.
Is Bill Kristol a mole planted by the Islamoliberals? If so, it is pure genius.
When the Republicans hold their circular firing party, I hope Kristol is the first one to take a round of exploding bullets in his pie hole.
Yes, the McCain campaign should definitely change its message and remind American voters that McCain is willing to keep troops in Iraq for a hundred years. And remind them that McCain wants to follow in Bush’s footsteps and spread our wealth–that’s money borrowed from China on the strength of future tax dollars–around Iraq. Iraqis need some more pallets of money thrown off the backs of trucks to stimulate their economy.
That’s going to be the magic formula for getting elected. C’mon, McCain, what are you waiting for? Americans are focused on VICTORY in Iraq! It’s their main concern. Even better, hint that you will invade Iran when you get to be president. It’s a differentiator from that wuss Obama.
To steal from Roy Edroso: this is the stupidest Monday Bullshit Memo Bill Kristol has written, and will remain so until next Monday.
You obviously are just looking for Kristol stories to give you an excuse to post that picture and I applaud you for it.
As you all will recall, Billy boy was the top advocate for adding Caribou Barbie to the ticket. For that alone, he should be the first one to go down.
Though you have to admire his consistency: an unbroken record of always being wrong.
ya know TBogg .. there really ain’t no such thang as a ”former-cowboy” ..
hehe.. early voting extended to 12 hrs a day in FL. With friends like Charlie Crist, one wonders what McCain’s enemies are like….
Is that the same reason people watch the high wire act?
Suzanne has a diary at Oxdown, and it’s a doozie!
Olbermann: Sarah Palin Is A Fraud
I wish that one of the things the election “winner” got was a complete change of the pundit class. I would SO like to see the current crop of bozos have to retire if “their patrons” [the Republicans] lose.
And Tom Brokaw, let’s start with YOU.
No, we liberals aren’t that cunning.
Heh heh heh.
“Foch of France to his commanding general, Joseph Joffre”
And then went on to kill 8-9 million men in the mud in Northern France. Way to go Bill – quote one of WW I’s Butchers.
The strategy in WW I was – We’ve got more men than the Germans, so if we kill one of there’s for one of ours, we’ll win…Tell that to my Great Uncle Henry.
Please, please, please, please . . .
Don’t let anything bad happen to that man! I want to see a Palin-Kristol ticket come 2012–not least because since Coney Island closed down their sideshow.
A-yep. Our guy is the antithesis of the Chuck Norris/Bruce Willis/Mel Gibson/etc. undisciplined hothead crowd. He’s much more The Saint and McGyver.
what? he was a POW? I never heard that!
