Shorter Lisa Schiffren:
If there is any truth to this completely bullshit PUMA post that the Obama campaign might fail to cheat itself into office, I certainly hope that John McCain is man enough to take on the dusky hordes lusting after power and my creamy white bosoms.
Is everybody gone? You sure?
Good.

…so, a question: will it hurt my laptop to dip it in a chlorine bleach bath to remove all traces of having visited a Lisa Schiffren link?
Yes, because if there’s anything the Democratic party is known for it’s stealing presidential elections, and if there’s anything the Republican party is known for it’s not stealing presidential elections. Did I get that right?
First off, nothing on earth ends well if it starts off ” Rush Limbaugh was highlighting this..” and there’s no guffawing involved.
I had a feeling Schiffren might end up somewhere like this when she claimed Obama’s parents were likely Communists because mostly only Commie had interracial romances. This is beyond being gullible. I don’t even know what to call it.
So…sad, awful, idiotic, parthetic. They probably believed Ashley Todd and still think it happened.
oh .. the crazies are coming out of the woodwork .. y’all recall erica jong doncha .. she an jane fonda re in italy .. jong has told some italanio news-a-paper there’ll be “blood in the streets” if obama doesn;t win ..
Re state control: Republicans ripped up the constitution and removed civil liberties. Is she saying she’s worried that Obama might restore the constitution?
Re rebuilding: …what Bush/Cheney destroyed? Yes, there is a lot of rebuilding to do.
Re McCain believing in reconciliation: this is something you demonstrate DURING your campaign. A person intent on unifying the country doesn’t orchestrate a divisive, hateful campaign, doesn’t run around the country calling some Americans “real”; doesn’t mock people who are active in their communities; doesn’t call community organizers “criminals”; doesn’t accuse his opponent of being an enemy, a terrorist, a terrorist sympathizer; doesn’t inspire his fans to fantasize killing his opponent; doesn’t hire Slime Inc. to make slanderous robocalls; doesn’t pick a politically corrupt fundie to be his running mate.
If Schiffren thinks McCain is perceived as bipartisan and welcoming of other views, she’s got her head so far in the sand her nose is poking up in Shanghai. Moderate republicans have already dumped him. Even a few hard core wingnuts have dumped hiim and picked Obama. McCain’s lost all but the village idiots and extremists.
Schiffren’s tone and her message is no different than the McCain’s. She’s as lost and out of touch with the electorate as he is.
This is the part that stood out for me:
I’ve read all the liberal predictions — or is it hopes? — of blood in the streets.
Really? I’ve read lots of conservative predictions of “blood in the streets” caused by the
niminorities after their candidate loses. Most of the liberals I read say that that’s moronic, not to mention borderline racist (one border some cons seem intent on jumping).Incidentally, what is the deal with this PUMA crap about conservatives not talking to pollsters? I’ve already gone to the Corner three times in two days, I don’t need to soil my browser further with a hit on Limbaugh’s site.
Lesley, that was one helluva post.
So McCain is an honorable man, and as such I should have faith that after elected he will behave a whole lot better than he has up to now?
So it feels really, really good to be a blatant racist? And since this is a “typical” Krusty supporter, this will help to unite the country? Once again, McGrampy supporters are Obama’s best advocates!
Rachel Maddow had Dan Rather on her show Thursday night (after Rachel had interviewed Obama), and Rather, in his comments, said something that threw me: he said that both Obama or McCain are qualified to be President.
Maybe it’s just Partisan Me, fed up with years of Repugnican campaign tactics, and sick of the tire-swinging (Thanks, TPM!) media…but I no longer think John McCain is, in fact, qualified to be President. Quite apart from the fact that I don’t agree with his political views, I think this campaign has clearly revealed McCain to be unprincipled, hot-headed, and impulsive beyond reason. To paraphrase Oliver Wendell Holmes, he has a second-class intellect and a third-class temperament. If the first doesn’t disqualify him from the Presidency, the second clearly should.
Or, as Lt. Worf would say: He has no honor!
(I couldn’t resist referring to both O.W. Holmes and Star Trek: TNG in the same comment.)
This is all about lancing a boil, everyone. It’s been repressed rather than dealt with, and so been getting bigger and nastier under the surface. Now it’s being popped, the poisons will flow out of it, and it’ll be hit with the nice cleansing antiseptic called reality.
unfortunately, nothing in the Constitution disallows angry, addle-brained jerkoffs form holding the highest office in the land(cf Bush, GW). It may be that the Founders lacked the foresight to make laws suitable to an idiocracy, but Rather still is correct.
Schiffren flatters herself. She looks like something scraped off the floor of the fridge, in a suit and pearls.
I usually don’t click on the links but I did this time because I foolishly doubted the accuracy of TBogg’s shorter. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa! grumpyforester, send over that bleach when you’re done cleansing your ‘puter, thanx.
I refuse to hit Limbaugh’s site, but I suspect it’s an artifact of cognitive dissonance. The wingnut mind cannot accept the reality that they are not the “mainstream” and that their failed ideology is being repudiated by the electorate; they have to create a reason for what they see but cannot accept.
This is where we get all of the goofy wingnut beliefs like “conservatives won’t tall to pollsters”, “Obama hypnotizes his audience”, “ACORN is stealing the election” etc.
Interesting – I’ve been thinking of this similarly, but as an exorcism; see the little devils spitting and cussing and thrashing and throwing up split pea soup as they are driven out.
