When we last saw McCain blogger and spokesfailperson Michael Goldfarb, he was on TV demonstrating that the McCain campaign was running on fumes in the final days and demonstrating that just about anybody who could fog a mirror was entrusted with carrying the McCain message to the masses, muddled as it was.
Officially unemployed at about 4PM Eastern Time on 11/4, Michael has made his way back to all-embracing wingnut welfare arms of The Weekly Standard where being horribly horribly wrong is a feature, not a bug.
What is best in life? To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.
This is precisely what the Democratic party achieved with Barack Obama’s historic victory on November 4. The Democrats increased their majorities in both the House and Senate while eliminating anything even resembling a functioning opposition. Those Republicans that survived the massacre are exhausted, scattered and foraging for scraps. It was a bloodbath, and one that should have satiated the blood lust of even the most committed Democratic partisans.
With a disaster at the top of the ticket and disaster² as his running mate (courtesy of Goldfarb’s former and once again boss) it’s nice to see Goldfarb trash-talking his former team without admitting his own rancid efforts. Kind of like watching a member of the Washington Generals bitch out his own team from the bench. Success has many fathers, while failure is those other guys. Them over there. Losers. Loooo-sers.

You cut him off before the best part, Boggins:
Yet some Democrats can’t seem to accept a complete and total victory — they want to round up the wounded and execute them. Joe Lieberman’s name is at the top of their list.
He follows by acknowledging that Lieberman was a prick who not only ran against his own party, but went to great lengths to smear Obama. Yet, we should let him stay. Why? I think we all know why.
(Oh, and I never want to hear Holy Joe referred to as “honorable” or “loyal” ever again. Gee, guess that loyalty doesn’t extend to the ol’ constituents, huh?)
Does he not get that it’s not a game? It’s not like ditching Lieberman is the political equivalent of dumping Gatorade over the coach. It’s that Lieberman is still in a position to do a great deal of harm, or at the very least to distract Congress and the new president from actually fixing some of the problems we’ve got. I freely admit to a desire to watch Joe sulk considering his response to his party’s constituents not wanting him anymore was to announce he’d go find some other constituents who *did* want him, but the goal of a large and reliably progressive strong Democratic Congress is less a matter of box scores than a necessary tool to enact democratic policies that democrats, being democrats, believe will help people. If we thought republican policies would help people, there might be more point in keeping guys who side with republican priorities in positions of power but for some reason, we don’t.
Politics is not a fucking game, morons! It’s about policies, which affect people. “The lamentation of your enemies” is not the point. Achieving a productive platform from which to enact change is.
Wait a minute — success has two daddies? No wonder they’re shunning it.
My impression of Goldfarb from the awesome photo is a putz thinking he’s got a Richard Gere thing going on. Wrong. Very wrong.
What is wrong with his hair? It looks like it’s molded of plastic, in one piece, like a Lego person’s hair.
Oh, it’s the sunglasses on top of his head.
It’s wore than that. It’s “success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan.”
That’s right. Success is the child of gay Mormons. Talk about yer oxymorons…
Bags has a fascinating photo and post on Lieberman’s future existence within the democratic party, the conclusion being that Obama pwned Lieberman.

And commenter thirdeye pushpin points out: “Joe’s seeming slap on the wrist was his dismissal from the committe that will be creating legialation [sic] on global warming.
In Obama’s administration which committe will get more progressive focus. They removed Joe not from where the action was, but from where it will be.”
Goldfarb, on the other hand, seems to think Joe’s a really swell guy who the Dirty Fucking Hippies just love to hate (we do, but that’s beside the point). Well, Goldfarb’s candidate got his ass handed to him, and it appears that shortride did, too, though it’s not immediately evident.
The “Art of War,” indeed. I’m becoming convinced we elected a really, really smart guy for President.
There are some people for whom quoting Conan the Barbarian, under any imaginable circumstances, is like pasting a “Kick Me” sign to their own back.
“If I could find the moron who was responsible for this I’d wring his neck!” exclaimed the captain of the Titanic as he slid under the waves.
The overall effect is that he’s wearing one of those rubber masks of Reagan/Nixon/Bush that people put on at Halloween. Must be the new kewl thing with wingtards.
Thank’s for the new POV of the Ol’ Joe issue; I do believe you are correct on the skill being shown by our new POTUS.
I also recall reading today that Joe and McSame are planning on introducing new climate change legislation immediately in the next session. Nothing says “petulant” quite as well as an “oh, yeah? Just watch me!” from Joe on one of his pet topics. Too bad he won’t have a leadership position on the committee that will actually be doing the work on this issue (que the very tiny violins).
Digg it!
does that guy actually have molded plastic hair, like a ken doll?
It matches his molded plastic crotch – just like Ken as well.
LOL. I spoke before I saw your comment (see 14)
I checked the photo again, and I say nay to the sunglasses explanation.
I’m sticking with my ken doll theory, including the DrDick corollary.
also, I feel strongly that the photo should have a little balloon coming out of his mouth that says, “Pahhhhrrrtttyyy!!!”

Thanks!
Yet still the GOP will not admit that its their ideas not the salesmen Bush and McCain who were responsible for their defeat. Confusion reigns in the GOP. That and Pride they are to proud to admit when they are wrong.
which is almost always
With a disaster at the top of the ticket and disaster² as his running mate
Plus they were running in a party whose incumbent president represented nothing but disaster for eight years and the head of the ticket voted ninety percent of the time with that disastrous president.
There are too many lame wingnuts to count. And that is just at HuffPo. We have potty mouth John Ziegler versus Nate Silver.
Then there is Crazy John versus rocker Jackson Browne.
But who could have ever guessed that Ralph Nader is advising Al CIA-aeda.
True but its information we can use. We know they are still proud so they will go after Obama in a big way, after a very public defeat. That will make them look crazed. Using the same ideas that lost them the election to attack Obama will drive the knife in further.
We need to keep them talking as much as possible and shutting them down.
What a jerk… Go figure he would get Wingnut Welfare… they all do.. T’would be nice if they all lost all their money in this Rethuglian caused recession!
Oh Neuro I Dugg your Digg as always…
thanks, nahant
someone played Talking Heads’ Psycho Killer on another thread and now I can’t get it out of my head
TBogg, you have teh awesome titles to your stories!
Happy Birthday, newtonusr
Happy BirthDay Newtonusr
thanks guys
The GOP is looking to Conan movies for guidance, Arnold or both? I think that means they are not going to reflect on their mistakes and change they plan for a full on fight.
That would be me, or David Byrne. Selise suggested that Congress and the President(Oh, Dana!) should do their jobs and try to fix the economy and stuff. I responded Stop Making Sense after the Talking Heads film. Psycho Killers does seem to describe the current mal-administration.

thanks. I appreciated the reference. I like TH,DB and the song. but it was burrowing into my brain. had to put on Lucinda Williams to drown it out.
Michael Lewis on Colbert.
Unlike Michael Goldfarb, Pastor Wiley Drake of Buena Park is not about to give up. Aparently he still has hope of defeating Barack Obama. This article is amusing and demonstrates how extreme our fundies are here in liberal California:
pastor files suit to keep Obama from taking office
Suit filed in Sacramento seeks to force president-elect to show better proof of citizenship.

A Buena Park pastor and vice-presidential candidate noted for his politics from the pulpit is a party to a lawsuit seeking to keep President-elect Barack Obama from taking office.
The lawsuit claims Obama has not provided sufficient proof he is a U.S. citizen, and asks that Secretary of State Debra Bowen not certify California’s election results until he provides more concrete evidence.
Wiley Drake, pastor of the First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park, is named as a plaintiff, as is Alan Keyes. Drake ran for vice president on the American Independent ticket with Keyes, who got the presidential nod.
“We want the truth,” Drake said. “If Barack Obama can prove he’s a natural-born citizen, we’ll go away. If not, we won’t go away.”
Drake said he and his attorneys have an audiotape of Obama’s grandmother describing how she witnessed his birth in Kenya.
“We have what we think is pretty strong evidence that Barack Obama is not natural born,” Drake said.
Obama’s birth certificate says he was born in Honolulu, but the lawsuit claims that is insufficient evidence because the certificate does not list a doctor or a hospital.
Hawaii state officials have said Obama’s birth certificate is genuine.
The suit alleges Bowen certified Obama as a candidate in California after “accepting a signed statement … with no verification demanded.” It was filed last week in Sacramento County Superior Court.

lawsuits like that are a waste of the court’s time and everyone else’s. I defended Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro in 1984 in a suit which alleged that because they were both attorneys, they had a conflict of interest and therefore could not run for president/vp. never did understand their “theory”, but had no trouble getting it dismissed.
The GOP way the Dem way and that is it in their worldview. They cannot seem to think of a third way. To be fair Bill’s third way was compromise. Still the GOP needs to change Reagan invented Code words and different targeted messages for moderate and red meat audiences.
His third way was to tone down the Barry Goldwater message to moderates and tone up the message to the red meat Racist voters. It was marketing.
Hey newtonusr! Happy Birthday.
You notice that he called the Democratic Party by its proper name,The Democratic Party, instead of the Republican attempt at demonizing the party as The Democrat Party.
That tells me that Goldfarb has learned to R-E-S-P-E-C-T the Democratic Party after the thrashing Republicans received.
Actually I think there is a huge competition among Orange County pastors for who can gain the most celebrity and receive the most press by bashing the Democratic party, gays, and abortion doctors/clinics. They gain notoriety and draw people in to their churches they think.
speaking of code words, I received a letter today from my Repug U.S. senator in which he made the following interesting statement:
“I fully suppport the concept of protecting endangered species by preserving our ecosystems. However, we need to achieve a balance between preserving our biosystems and allowing responsible stewardship of our natural resources.”
Huh? To me, the two things he is “balancing” are one and the same. But I gather that “responsible stewardship” is wingnut code for giving away public resources to big corporations so they can exploit them for private profit.
My wife explained that wingnuts see it that way because the Bible says God gave them dominion over the earth, which means they can exploit it to their heart’s content.
I interpret this as “drill baby drill.” It sounds like he is talking in code, biosystems, meaning our natural gas and oil reserves, but pretending he would be responsible enough to protect animal habitats. I don’t trust these people and it is not the solution to our dependence on foreign oil.
Too.
Also.
My Ken doll has the fuzzy kind of hair, like velveteen, and he still has all of it. (Yes, I’m that old.) I saved up my weekly allowance of 25 cents for several months in order to buy him and I still have the box but it’s not in as good of shape as he is.
Sorry, topic drift: it’s what I’m good at.
I wonder if negro is the word he meant. Hmmmmm…….
These clowns need to feel the full effect of Rule 11 sanctions.
Politics is not a fucking game, morons! It’s about policies, which affect people.
Not the people Michael Goldfarb chooses to know! His people have people to be affected for them!
Shorter Goldfarb: “Insulation from reality… it’s a beautiful thing.”
Shorter Republican Party…
I don’t want to be tagged with teh loser tag for next time around.
Enter McCain Palin ticket.
Great “lede” there, TBogg!
Thanks for the ear-worm, dude.
