A jackass who used to work in my office had a teevee in every room in his house, including the bathrooms - and used to brag that he had more guns that televisions.

It’s got to be a chromosomal defect.

Better yet, carmakers could retrofit SUVs with guns and other gizmos like James Bond! They could even call it the Jimmy Joe Bond Limited Edition. Check out the built-in AK47s, sure to hurry traffic along. Look at the ejecto-seat, great for hurling revenooers and other varmints. Get yours today!

Nah, I don’t buy it. Even they got dope-slapped for flying commercial, their sense of entitlement could have been kept out of the picture with just a little brains.

From a conversation of earlier today, these companies are serving as a case-study in the downside of economies of scale. They can make a lot of things cheaply and efficiently, but what if they are the wrong things, things no one wants? They have spent more effort on lobbying against things like airbags and better fuel economy standards and for tariffs on competitors than actually competing. The autoworkers can make cars well, they do it for Mercedes, Toyota, Honda, etc. But the Big 3 can’t dream up cars people want, won’t design for quality in the fit and finish, and thinks we owe them more chances to do what we know won’t work.

They are too big to change, not too big to fail.

Mr Neil Young has a plan that is too smart to be adopted. And even Mittens is piling on.

Big Three Clusterfucking CEOs Flew Private Jets to Plead for Public Funds

The auto industry made the clusterfuck. The now deposed male Dingell and Carl Levin made this clusterfuck. Debbie Stabenow made this clusterfuck. Many state legislators in Michigan made this clusterfuck. The unions made this clustefuck.

These morons should be fired, and the entire executive staff should be fired. They need to declare Chapter 11 and if these greedy bastards don’t survive, they were the ones who killed the pensions that Marcy is crying about.

Rick Wagoner zoomed in on a $30 billion jet at the cost of $20 grand and hopped into an inefficient gas hog SUV.

Business Week should have never put this mutt on their cover.

This failure wasn’t subtle. We’ve known it was coming for years. We know gas is going to $200 a barrel soon and will be back up pushing $4.50/gallon at $100 a barrell sooner.

The Senators from Michigan were warned continueally over the years this was going to happen and they were warned in the Michigan print media, and in multiple seminars at the University of Michigan and Michigan state not to mention across.

Rick Wagoner of GM, Alan Mulally of Ford, and Robert Nardelli of Chrysler can start funeling their personal multi hundred million dollar fortunes into replenishing those pensions.

Nardelli owns two homes in Atlanta on Garmon drive on adjacent properties that are valued at over $20 million.

Let them eat motor oil–non-synthetic sprinkled with nuts and bolts.

Hm, I hear that not only are internal combustion engines going to be banned, it will ALSO be illegal to trade your guns in on a new car.

That ought to get them trading in all those new guns at the same time they are buying new cars, solving two problems in one fell swoop.

I don’t mind that, their time is money. What did get my attention is that none of the three bothered to have even a rudimentary plan, provided to the committee in advance, and a nice presentation of the highlights of the plan to make an easel presentation for the cameras. These are supposed to be CEO’s. Imagine someone asking one of them for a substantial chunk of company resources. If that someone didn’t have a plan with metrics, benchmarks and outcomes he or she would be fired on the spot for being stupid. It also never occurred to the CEO’s that, had they come up with a plan the plan might have been the topic rather than how badly Detroit has managed its business.
Epic FAIL.

Oh, ye gods. From the very first commenter over at CY’s “Spot the Braincell” tavern:

“I’m afraid of guns. They scare me. But some things are more dangerous than a gun in the hands of a free citizen of a democracy.” Yes, that would be guns in the hands of CY or any of the denizens of his little shop of teh dumb. I mean, seriously: my seriously blonde puppy would have a better understanding of how to handle an assault rifle — and she’s still pretty fascinated by her own tail.

Instead of wet dreams about the Volt and other, you know, useful things, it sounds like Detroit should be retooling to make ever more powerful handguns (“the Chevvy AK-Tahoe: now with extra cup holder, available leather grip, and a GPS to mark the exact spot where you maimed your last small child”) and all their troubles would vanish overnight.
