That, of course, is the heart of this. The more we laugh at this clown, the more the right-wingers feel compelled to defend him and put him forward as their “everyman” face and voice.

I think the Jonah Goldbergs of the world actually believe the left is in some way pissed off at the “effectiveness” of JTP - let’s ask McCain how effective he was - so they continue to put him forward in more prominent roles.

To which we can only say: “Ohh, please don’t throw me in that brier patch. No more JTP please!”

I did not know movie theaters showed clips of soldiers during WWI.

Apparently a few silent newsreels are kicking around from WWI. Not sure how they would have prettied up the carnage of that utter hellhole of a war.
