Shorter Gary DeMar:
Just as liberal commie homos in Hollywood faced an industry blacklist in the 40′s and 50′s, today’s Hollywood conservatives fear speaking their mind because of a blacklist that doesn’t exist as evidenced by these conservatives who are working, but it could happen so it’s really the exact same thing.
Fuck. That doesn’t make any sense. Win the culture war! Jesus rulz!

“Exercising Servanthood Dominion????” At least two of those are real words, but they seem to be following each other around randomly in hopes of stumbling across a meaning.
Businesses and Organizations being boycotted because of their anti-Christian activities - a web site by and for fundie conservatives.
and don’t get me started on the angry boycott campaigns by right wing nutjobs to every network and hollywood studio protesting every film and tv show that doesn’t meet their standards.
It’s illogical and disjointed screeds like this that make me want to bang my head against a wall.

I have to out myself, I liked “Frazier,” and Grammar is great doing the voices on “The Simpsons.” Heston made some movies I enjoyed a lot, too. I wish I had stopped to think about their politics, so I could have boycotted them.
Exactly, fauxmax; now that I know who the Hollywood conservatives are, I will immediately go about boycotting every memory I have of their work, and therefore I will remain idiologically pure. Afterall, you know those on the other side of the political/celebrity/HollywoodRethug aisle would do no less!
Apparently he’s all a-flutter because a number of comedians and actors donated to Al Franken’s campaign, not quite making the connection that they probably gave Al money because, you know, they’ve worked with him.
“Beat [the liberals] at their own game. Write and produce better films that make money, make people laugh, cry, think, and imagine!” By golly, why don’t you guys give it a try, Gary?
I won’t be holding my breath, though — see this, which made wingnut douchebag producer David Zucker declare that “he is done making conservative comedies.”
Instead, we have people like Gary who are living, walking conservative comedies. Whatever.
The only thing wingnuts suffer from is lack of talent. The few exceptions get all the work they want or can expect.
Jon Voight politically is an a-hole, but I still like many of his films. And that cute Pat Sajak…don’t even get me started.
Good point, thingwarbler. Actually producing movies that people want to see, instead of heavy-handed ideological bullshit? Like, for example, “comedies,” as in “movies that are funny,” as opposed to “conservative comedies,” as in “movies that hammer you over the head with their political point of view, with some lame jokes thrown in.”
It’s a crazy idea, but it just might work!
His last quote (blockquote) goes against his conclusion. Do you think he even noticed?
It’s stupidity and dishonesty I have a problem with, regardless of political leanings. I don’t have a problem with honest, rational conservatives. I don’t agree with them, but I don’t have a problem with their continuing to live and work among us. I’m disappointed that Grammer took part in An American Carol, but I’ll still sing along with Sideshow Bob’s performance of the entire score of H.M.S. Pinafore. And a one, and a two…
No blacklist against conservatives, eh? Well, consider this: Gary Graham hates liberals, and he has a shitty career. Q.E.D.
I boycott entertainers, movie stars, teevee shows, etc., but not for their political beliefs but because they are fucking idiots. Currently that group includes Mel Gibson, Cameron Diaz, and Tom Cruise (though he could redeem himself if he made another “Rainman”).
Of course, columnists on that list include Kristol, Cohen, and Goldberg (to name only a few). I guess Gary DeMar belongs on the list now, too.
Fucking idiot.
capthealy:
You mean there is more than one that exists in this universe?
Is Mr. DeMar related to Gov. Palin? His syntax is very similar.
“A lot of liberal money came in to support of Franken by noted liberals like Tom Hanks, Robin Williams, George Clooney, Michael J. Fox, Ted Danson, David Letterman, Mike Myers, Dan Aykroyd, and Steve Martin. “
Sounds as though it’s the conservatives making the lists. Winger = Paranoid.
Yeah, well see, Gary old boy, when you’re part of an authoritarian cult that allows only a single set of ideas, the whole “creativity” thing kinda suffers in the process, ya know. Just like pissyness posing as “humor” does not good comedies make.
TBogg, that title’s a keeper.
I’m keeping it!
If only.
Enjoy.
