Where did the week go?
It’s Friday Date Night, so what does Andy Breitbart have in store for us?
Ambiguity should be more defined.
TV shows would be so much better if they caught up on the latest research on guns which I would provide to them except that my computer eated it.
Best fucking years of my life and I get no respect. Where’s the love, man? Fuck.
When I smoke dope I get all philosophical and shit and start mad riffing. Then I masturbate to The Truth About Cats & Dogs, but not to that Kill Bill chick.
This old black & white movie on TCM about a psychotic money-grubbing preacher is pretty cool but if you made it today it would be anti-Christian and therefore liberal and bad.
Some young guy with an Oedipus complex isn’t being very Obama-y
My buddy wrote these Left Behind books that sold like a billion copies and Jesus-hatin’ Hollywood ignored him. What? They did make a movie? Really? Fuck. Jezuz rulez!
Hollywood celebrities are not to be taken seriously unlike, say, fourth-tier comedians like myself. By the way, I don’t have any gigs until the middle of next month so you got any spare change?
I call celebrities "celebutards" (hee!) which is funny unlike like calling people who write for the New York Post "tabmongoloids" which is cruel.
When comic book fan boys start calling you "immature" you’ve probably hit rock bottom.
‘Taken’ has so much hot hatin’-on-Muslims action that the ushers had to ask me to keep my moaning down because it was bothering the people watching Marley & Me on the screen next door
Barack Obama is rooting for the Steelers probably because they have a black coach or something. If the Super Bowl ratings are down, I will blame it Barack Obama’s racism.
Don’t you hate it when you go to a concert and the band doesn’t play that one song of theirs that you like? I know I do. Free Bird!
I finally left the house and saw a movie at a theater (’Taken’) and it was pretty good except I missed part of it because some fat chick was humping the arm rest three rows in front of me. That was kind of distracting…

Wow. How insane, idiotic, and stupifyingly bad and horrifying. I rely on you for this, so thanks.
You tempt me to click on the links, but I remember what happened the last time I did that. My head exploded and left curdle all over the monitor. I can only salute your courage (or at least your sang-froid) in actually going to that site to read that crap.
Can Big Hollywood come over and vacuum my house? That much suck could do the whole thing in a matter of seconds. Of course, I’d have to nail down everything I didn’t want to lose…
Re: Schlussel
In “Taken,” retired CIA agent Liam Neeson’s daughter is kidnapped by an Albanian Muslim sex slavery ring in Paris. And while the movie doesn’t outright tell us they are Muslims, the filmmakers show us several quick close-up shots of tattoos on the hands of the men who head the ring–crescents and stars, the religious symbols of Islam.
Except that Muslims don’t get tattoos.
Then, there are the people who “acquire” his daughter. They are obviously Arabs, who speak Arabic…
Except that Albanians aren’t Arab (they’re white Europeans) and don’t speak Arabic, they speak Albanian.
Never let the facts get in the way of a good hate.
Don’t mellow her harsh, man. Debbie like needs them to be Arabs.
So, let’s check out the conservative love/hate scorecard this week:
Must hate: House, some weird Templar movie I never heard of, Ashton Kutcher, comic books, the Steelers, and Bruce Springsteen.
Neutral: Monk, Doubt
Ok to like: Janeane Garofalo, as long as you don’t like her for her mind
Do you think these people know that nobody, conservative or liberal, likes sex slavery, Scientology, or Sean Penn?
I hate to say this, but I (mostly) agree with the guy about Springsteen. He hasn’t put out anything sublime since Nebraska.
Of course, this guy probably hates Nebraska.
Although the Seeger cover album was really good, and this guy probabaly hates that one too.
And Bruce’s interview with Terry Gross (replayed today) was teh awesome.
God, agreeing on any level with conservative fucktards hurts. I may not sleep tonight, combing through Springsteen’s post-Nebraska catalog and re-evaluating my opinion.
I just saw Taken, it’s pretty much hate anyone but Americans; French, Eastern Europeans, and the Boss level of the whole video game: Arabs who pay top dollar for American virgins. The movie is like a day dream of a father at a purity ball.
In other words: Hardcore.
Exactly. With uzis and kung fu.
RE: Nolte
What kind of a**hole uses “helm” as a verb? Now we know:
Someone should see to it that Nolte never columns again.
I remember the John Lott “survey” controversey. Strange he doesn’t mention that anymore. Perhaps he’ll find it at the house of Nicole Simpson’s real killer. Maybe the WMD is there as well.
And Debbie Schlussel looks like Boy George in a blonde wig in her photo.
That’s as far as I can make it through the links before I begin to forget my name and where I am, and an urge to stick my hand down the garbage disposal comes over me.
As a life long comic book geek, I can’t believe I didn’t know what a loon Mike Baron is, even though many point out the inherent fascism of the “superhero” conceit. Oh well, I still have fond memories of Nexus and The Badger…
This is why I separate the art and the artist. Dave Sim, for example, is completely insane, but High Society and Church and State are still great achievements. I guess his illness hadn’t progressed into full blown fruitcake mode yet.
Gah. I clicked through the Schlussel link. That’s the stupidest fucking thing I’ve ever read.
The commenters are equally insane. It’s one thing to know that Deb exists. It’s entirely another that there are actual people walking around that agree with her.
It’s likely that the webwizards at Big[holy]Wood know where their visitors are coming from. But we’re better than (re)poking people in the eye like that. Much better to click from tbogg and back again to learn about boiling down great literary content into a single descriptive statement.
You’d think I’d learn, but noooooooo. I clicked through the John Lott link bitching about a TV show. A commenter quotes one of Coulter’s idiotic screeds – approvingly. Again, gah.
Where have we seen Taken before? Guy loses control of his family, wife gets too independent — or even gets lured away by some effete latte-sipping metrosexual — but in the end the family has to turn to him for protection because he’s a REAL MAN. Not that male fantasies are any stupider than female fantasies. Case in point, any movie featuring a wedding and/or Matthew McConaughey.
Back to “Big Hollywood”, I started reading the comments in Mike Long’s review of Doubt and couldn’t resist reading all the way through. Some of them made Debbie Schlussel look like James Agee.
According to the first commenter, the casting ruined the movie because “Blacks can NEVER be wrong or bad in movies – especially against someone White”. Which doesn’t even make sense because it wasn’t a case of the black kid’s word against the priest’s. But I suspect a lot of what this gent writes doesn’t make sense.
Or this one: the commenter liked the movie because the “conservative battle ax … turns out to be the hero over the hippy dippy lefty priest”. I don’t want to spoil the movie for anyone but I’m sure those of you who have seen it will join me in a hearty WTF?
And another commenter was just irritated. The movie should have made it clearer! Was the priest a pedophile or not? It was so aggravating!
Oh, dear MaryRC, do not try to parse the wingnuts. It will only make your head hurt.
And God bless you, TBogg, for reading this crap. Just reading your “Shorters” was pain enough. While I appreciate the links, I do not want to go to there.
I really need to go to bed, because I’m singin’ part of The Messiah tomorrow. Good thing I know it.
