I’m on one of those SuperSecret Sedition email lists that makes Erick Erickson’s blood pressure go up, and we were having a discussion about Coach Eyechart’s comments about Barack Obama:
"Somebody said that we’re not in President Obama’s Final Four, and as much as I respect what he’s doing, really, the economy is something that he should focus on, probably more than the brackets," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said from the Blue Devils’ first-round site in Greensboro, N.C.
Years ago some of the journalism students at Duke were less than complimentary to the basketball program in the school paper and Coach K invaded their office and then forced them to sit there while he bitched them out. This only confirmed my previous impression that he was a bullying whiney-ass douchebag. In light of all of this, one of the members of the email group whom I will call Spencer Ackerman MR X to protect his identity forwarded this to us:

(Update) As noted in comments, Coach K was clipped by Fox. Fair enough.
I still think he’s a dick.
And Duke sucks.

Well don’t forget, Coach K learned at the knees of “The General” aka Bobby Knight.
He played for Knight at West Point
He was an assistant at Indiana under Knight.
He just has a better PR sense than Knight. Usually.

My daughter, UNC sophomore, agrees that Coach K is a WATB.

One of the scariest moments of my college life was when one of our assistant football coaches barged into the PA booth (where I was setting up the sound board, using the campus radio station as a source) to bitch about the music on the speakers, and chewed me out for a minute or so. I (in quite respectful terms) told him I was dealing with it (as one of the station music directors, I had called the DJ and told him to stick to the assigned genre for that hour – jazz), but that I didn’t appreciate his tone. He did the simp-faced mock apology thing.
And that was when I contemplated, just for a nanosecond, shoving him down the stairs backwards, as he was perched at the top of the staircase. As I said, scary.
I settled for telling him I didn’t take shit from assistant coaches for losing teams. Much more satisfying.
And this is why I presume any coach at any level of sports is a dick. Present company excepted.

as a recovering Pac 10 sports junkie – a dick to be sure
but what really got to me over the years was the legions of bandwagon Duke fans – ya know, the same folks who cheer Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame football, or the assholes who used to show up at Candlestick wearing their Dodgers hat -
Many here in Anchorage share this opinion as a result of the way he treated people here in town when Duke came in for the “Great Alaska Shootout.”
Besides, Nixon went to law school at Duke… Screw ‘em.
Coach K is jerkoff and everyone knows it (Fox hit job not withstanding).
That being said, y’all are welcome to come aboard my alma mater bandwagon, Villanova, who has truly one of the classiest coaches in all of sports, Jay Wright*. Go Nova!
*Disclosure, he was a high school classmate, so yeah, I’m a little biased.
I worked in the IT office (one of ‘em, anyway) at Duke for about a year, and the unanimous opinion of the staff was that Duke students were the biggest group of privileged assholes you could ever wish on your worst enemy. And the behavior of the “Cameron Crazies” is like the distilled essence of the student body’s rude and boorish behavior as a whole.
Why, yes, I did go to Chapel Hill. Why do you ask?
