For those unfamiliar with MrsTbogg’s reference:

Rainbow Bridge Poem
Rainbow Bridge Poem (Photo of Rottweiler Dog)

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called Rainbow Bridge because of its many splendid colors. Just this side of Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush, green grass.

When beloved pets die, they go to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth. So each day they run and play. Until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!

The nose twitches. The ears are up! The eyes are staring.

And this one suddenly runs from the group. You have been seen!

And when you and your special friend meet, you take him in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together…

… Never again to be separated.

Sent to me by a friend on the passing of my black lab and best friend, Moose. My condolences Amber, I know how it hurts.

Selah.

Sorry for your loss. It is always a huge pity that we give our hearts to creatures that have more fleeting lifespans than ours. What a face, what a beautiful girl Bassett.

But it means we treasure them more and love them with all our hearts. And this will leave a big hole in your life.

I like to think we’ll be together again afterward. It is a comfort.

Condolences to all who loved her. She was a lovely girl. All of us who frequent here know the joys and pain of loving dogs. It is terribly hard to adjust, but in time the many years of good and funny memories will overcome the grieving ones. Till then, take heart in knowing we care.

She was loving…but damn stubborn. In the last year we tried 4 different foods for her kidneys, and I still ended up having to make food at home. But try eating any human food! Right now we have to remember to give my other dog a snack…she doesn’t ask. Miss Kify used to DEMAND a taste…the look, the panting and the inevitable drool on your foot…Good memories. Actually, up until 2004 she used to sit up on her butt and extend one of her paws to get food:)
Man, I am having trouble adjusting without a basset under foot….

Whoever designed dogs to live less than two decades needs a good talking to.

Miss Kify the elder reminds me of Queen Claudine. I hope that video gives you a few laughs at this sad time.
