No, for every dollar red states pay in taxes, they’re sucking an extra $.32 from things like border security, defense, etc. So chew on this while you’re sucking on a tea bag:

During the 2003 fiscal year Red states received an average of $1.32 for every tax dollar that was sent to the federal government. New Mexico received nearly a 200% return at $1.99 per dollar taxed and Missouri wasn’t a far third place at $1.83 per dollar taxed. Some of the other top recipients were Alabama, Alaska, North Dakota, and the Virginias. On the other hand, Blue states lost money in a sense, receiving on average only $0.92 back for every dollar taxed. New Jersey is the lowest recipient at $0.57 per dollar taxed (Tax foundation, 2004). Of the 17 states disadvantaged by the federal government, 12 voted for Kerry. Some of the other biggest losers were Connecticut, New Hampshire and Minnesota. Only two red states, Nevada and Colorado, are not receiving more federal dollars per dollar taxed. All of the aforementioned evidence supports the claim that red states receive more federal assistance than do blue states.
