If you’re anywhere near the Bell House in Brooklyn on 6/12 and you don’t go see this, you pretty much suck and I hate you for passing up an opportunity that I would kill for.
No.
Really.
I’d kill someone.
As a small consolation the L&T Casey and I are going to see The Shins a week from Monday and seeing The Shins is close. But not really.

$18 A TICKET!!?? Are you young whippersnappers kidding me? I once saw Booker T. Washington White, McKinley Morganfield, William James Dixon and Riley B. King play together in a single concert and it only cost us a quarter each. That and the gas to drive down to Macomb from Galesburg. Booker and Riley were cousins (Booker actually gave Riley his very first guitar) and it was the first time they had ever played on the same stage together.
You kids and your alternatives and moshing and piercings and tats…
Yeah, I’m jealous.
I could’ve seen the Shins here in Tobacco Town a couple years ago but none of my friends know who they are, my kids were away at college, and I was too embarrassed to go by my 50-yr-old self. One or more of their CDs is in constant rotation in my car’s changer.
Thanks for turning me on to the Posies. I like.
Did you wear an onion on your belt? It was the style at the time, so I hear…
Hah I’ve been to the Bell House, although I have to take the R train, which is a pain in the butt. Amazing sound system there though.
We saw most of the great Sixties bands at either Fillmore or Winterland. There were always three bands on the bill and admission was $2.00. People bitched in ‘68 when they raised it to $2.25.
The 6/11 show sounds a lot more interesting.
And L&T Casey, going to see a band with your dad? Lame. Also.
another good one:

Damn, pleeze bring this show to Philly! Frosting on the Beater was one of my absolute favorites from the 90s and Solar Sister remains unparalleled pop deliciousness.
Yes, the Shins are very smart. My (abq) hometown boys made good.
Seriously, what is it with liberal bloggers and their penchant for bland indie/alterna pop? Is it a generational thing? Or is it some sinister, masonic code thing? A secret handshake, if you will. You put these videos on your blog and people in the know quietly nod.
I’m on to you
The Posies aren’t qualified to carry Redd Kross’ phase shifter.
Aw man, I would totally go, but I’ve got tickets to see the Milltown Brothers at the Temecula Red Lobster that night. Well, not so much “tickets” as plans to be there. $2 shrimp on Fridays!
